Is broody Gemma putting too much pressure on Arg?

Maybe he’s not quite ready for marriage and kids

James “Arg” Argent recently posted a picture of himself with girlfriend Gemma Collins alongside the caption, “I can really see myself marrying this amazing woman one day!” But if Gemma has anything to say about it, that “one day” should be as soon as possible. In a recent joint interview, Gemma and Arg gushed about how their relationship is “better than ever” and they have discussed marriage and babies. In the chat, Gemma revealed she was desperate to become a mum, saying, “It’s something we both really want and I’m not getting any younger and we’re buying a house together, so James needs to propose soon! It doesn’t have to be in the next few months, but I won’t hang around forever.”

However, insiders close to the couple – who’ve been more off than on since their romance began back in 2012 – have told heat their friends and family worry Gemma is pushing Arg too hard after his recent stint in rehab.

“Gemma is someone who takes charge and, when she wants something, she goes for it,” a friend says. “But there’s a worry that she’s moving too fast so soon after Arg has been in rehab to be pressuring him about marriage and babies. Although he’s said he wants that, too, he still needs to do a lot of work on himself and they’re just not in the right space to be taking this leap.”

The couple discussed the recent rocky patch they went through after Arg “spiralled back into some old habits” and eventually sought help for his “party lifestyle”. After attending therapy sessions for two months over the summer, Arg reunited with Gemma and says he feels “very positive about the future”. And if Gemma, 37, has any say in it, their future is heading quickly from buying houses to getting married and starting a family.

Arg, 30, has already attended rehab multiple times – firstly at The Priory in 2014, and secondly in 2017, after he had fallen into a “cycle of depression”. The notorious yo-yo dieter has also previously admitted to addiction issues with food, and said of his latest rehab visit, “I started to put myself before Gemma, which wasn’t fair.” However, he now says he’s “ready to step up and be the man Gemma deserves”.

But Gemma’s mates are also hoping the TOWIE couple will hold back on rushing into any big decisions. “Gemma’s friends are worried that Arg is using her for fame and fortune,” our source says. “Gemma can’t help but feel like their relationship is doomed and everyone around them is willing them to fail.” n
