why paris called off her wedding
Turns out Chris was no Prince Charming
She’s the closest thing we have to a real-life Disney princess. And it seemed as if Paris Hilton had finally got her happy ending in January when she announced she was engaged to actor Chris Zylka, 33. But last week, she and Chris revealed they had split after two years together. *Sob* And while reports said their relationship went “off-kilter”, insiders close to the heiress tell us this is a serious understatement. In fact, Paris was apparently growing increasingly alarmed by Chris’ lawyers’ reported financial demands. Meanwhile, while the socialite was eager to start a family, we’re told her beau wasn’t so keen, eventually telling her he “wasn’t ready to be a father and didn’t know if he ever would be”. So, she decided to cut him off.
“Paris had been working on their prenup for months, because Chris’ legal team kept asking for more money,” our insider reveals. “Chris said he didn’t want a cent, but she became increasingly unsure. At the same time, she always said how much she wanted kids, but he never responded. She felt he wasn’t the man she had fallen in love with.”
Chris famously presented Paris, 37, with a $2million engagement ring earlier this year. But according to our sources, Chris’ extravagances were only made possible because of his famous fiancée, who paid him a monthly stipend of $150,000 “so he could live in the style she was accustomed to”.
We’re told, “Paris was so intent on getting married no matter what – especially because her younger sister Nicky is happily married with two daughters. But now she feels as if Chris never loved her.”
Last week, the socialite posted a photo of herself channelling Marilyn Monroe (bottom left) and quoted the late screen icon, writing, “I believe that everything happens for a reason… You believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself. And sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
That’s the spirit, Paris – always look on the bright side. Like the fact that you’ll now be saving an absolute fortune, all for your future sprog’s trust fund. n
