Megan’s single again, and she’s twerking to make sure everybody knows it

She’s hit the scene hard after her love split

For some people, there’s only one way to get over a break-up, and it involves vodka shots and some rather explicit dancing. Megan Barton-hanson showed us just how it’s done last week while on a night out in Brighton with fellow Love Islander Samira Mighty.

The 24 year old well and truly let her hair down, discarding her heels to ensure she could get down and dirty at the paid nightclub appearance – no doubt in an attempt to show Wes Nelson what he was missing. The pair have only been separated for a couple of weeks, but Megan has been quick to speak about their break-up. Last week, she revealed, “I fought and fought and fought for Wes, but he doesn’t love me back.”

Megan accused Wes, 20, of being “wrapped up in the fame bubble”, and admits she knew something wasn’t right after the couple’s London flat was burgled. She said, “I asked him to take a day off [Dancing On Ice] training to help me sort moving out of the flat and putting our stuff in storage, as the police said it wasn’t safe – but he wouldn’t.”

Dancing On Ice seems to be the straw that broke the camel’s back for the pair. Megan shocked fans by calling out Wes’ partner Vanessa Bauer, after the ice skater announced she’d broken up with her boyfriend on the night of Wes’ first performance on the show. Megan called the announcement timing “tactical”, and slated Vanessa for not reaching out to her. The day following the official Wegan uncoupling, Meg was seen smiling and dancing in the DOI audience, which baffled her fans, and led to speculation that they were faking their break-up. She has since claimed that she was giving Wes “one more shot”.

“I thought if I got all dressed up and went to the show looking great, then Wes might say all

‘i wanted wes to fight for me’

the right things and it would be all right,” she said. “I wanted him to fight for me, but it’s clear as day that he’s not interested – or only interested when it suits him.” And while Megan claims she isn’t jealous of Wes and Vanessa, she believes, “They might get together for the publicity. I hate thinking that, but I wouldn’t be shocked.”

In the weeks after the split, Megan admitted to feeling the lowest she’s ever felt. “On the Monday after

Dancing On Ice, I was in bits,” she said. “I felt so low and my anxiety was high. I knew I’d spiral if I didn’t do something about it, as I’d suffered with depression and suicidal thoughts before entering Love Island.”

The Essex star has said that therapy has helped, and that she will now attend weekly sessions. “These are the toughest times I’ve experienced, so I need it,” she says.
