Posh’s parents have the perfect marriage. Maybe they can train David?

She knows she couldn’t live without him

As she gears up to celebrate her 20th wedding anniversary with husband David, it’s fair to say Victoria Beckham’s been on an emotional roller coaster over the years, with the last 18 months arguably being the hardest. But as heat’s told you before, she’s determined to get her relationship back on track, and the couple have been looking a lot closer in recent weeks. However, that isn’t enough for Posh, as she aspires to have the same closeness that her parents, Jackie and Tony, still share. Posting a picture of them walking together hand-in-hand, she wrote, “How you want to be after 48 years of marriage,” and it has reinforced her need for her and David to grow old together.

“There’s no denying there have been issues between David and Victoria recently, and there were even points when they were questioning whether their marriage could survive,” a source close to the couple tells heat. “But neither of them have ever been ready to throw in the towel and, Victoria especially, knew they just needed to work through their problems. She’s always looked up to her parents and the happy marriage they have, and it’s something she has always wanted. Her mum and dad are still so affectionate towards each other and it’s exactly what she wants her and David to be like. No matter how bad things get, Vic could never bear to let David go, she can’t imagine life without him. They always said they’d grow old together and, now more than ever, she’s determined to make that happen.”

And in recent weeks, the couple – parents to Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 13, and seven-year-old Harper – have been a lot more affectionate towards each other, especially in public. Victoria, 44, has been posting pictures of David and they’re spending much more time together during the weekend at their Cotswolds home. When they first bought the property, Vic wasn’t as keen as David, 43, but she has grown to like it a lot more, especially because David is so happy and relaxed there. She feels it is bringing them closer together once more, and is the perfect place to escape

the stresses of their life in London.

“Since Christmas, Victoria definitely feels there’s been a change in David and his attitude towards her,” we’re told. “She felt he could be quite distant and cold at times, but they’ve been talking a lot more and they both feel happier. With their wedding anniversary coming up in July, they want a big celebration, and knew they couldn’t really do that if there were rumours about the state of their marriage.”

Our insider continues, “Having a happy home life is the most important thing to them, and they want to set a good example to the children and make sure they don’t pick up on any negative vibes. They know their marriage is still far from perfect, but they are really working on it, and spending so much time with Jackie and Tony has shown that it can work.

“Over the next few months, they want to make more time for each other and improve on things even further. Vic accepts that they still have a long way to go but, so far, her plan is working.”
