If it was our birthday, we would have wanted a full-on Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston reunion, but sadly we can’t make that happen. Instead, we’ll have to settle for the cute news that Brad really wanted to make a special effort for Jen’s 50th, and so arranged a secret reunion. “Jen was really touched by the offer, and immediately agreed to them meeting up in the week leading up to her big day,” our insider reveals. “Celebrating her 50th birthday has been a real roller coaster of emotion for Jen. She always imagined she’d have seen it in with her ex-husband Justin Theroux, but she knows deep down it was for the best that they parted ways. She has really felt this birthday looming, so it’s been lovely to have so many people in her circle make such a big effort – especially Brad, as she knows he has so much on his plate right now.”

Brad, 55, is currently in the midst of a bitter divorce with ex-wife Angelina Jolie, but is recently believed to have started dating actress Charlize Theron. Our insider also tells us that Brad has always maintained a strong friendship with Jen– who celebrated her birthday on 11 February – following their five-year marriage, which ended in 2005. “It’s not the first time they’ve met up in recent years, and it won’t be the last, either – although they like to meet in private to avoid all the headlines,” we’re told. “As the years have gone by, they’ve managed to nurture a really special friendship. It’s not as though they would ever get back together, and Jen is respectful of the fact that Brad is dating again and she doesn’t want to get involved in all of that. But there will always be a special connection and chemistry between them. Jen is so special to Brad, and there was no way he wanted to pass up the opportunity to wish her a happy birthday in person, and show his love and support for her.” n
