We thought it was just a one-night stand, but it turns out things are slightly more serious between Kate Beckinsale and Pete Davidson. The pair were first spotted last month leaving a Golden Globes after-party together, where onlookers say they were flirting, and Kate was “following Pete around and waiting for him”. They then seemed to confirm their status as a couple last week when they were pictured leaving Pete’s comedy gig holding hands.
Despite a 20-year age gap between them, an insider tells us, “Pete is absolutely besotted and Kate loves calling the shots. It’s a huge turn-on to her when men worship the ground she walks on. He’s been showering her with gifts and burning up her phone non-stop when they’re apart. When they’re on a date, he spends the entire time telling her how sexy she is. Trouble is, people think she’ll get bored eventually and move on, like she always does. That’ll leave Pete nursing a broken heart, because he always falls hard and fast like this – look at what happened with Ariana.”
Pete, a cast member on US sketch show Saturday Night Live, was engaged to Ariana Grande for three months last year in a highly-publicised relationship. After their split, the comic – who has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, and is open about his struggle with mental ill health – shocked fans by posting a suicidal message to social media. Our source tells us Kate’s friends are worried that Pete, 25, is too vulnerable to be dating her.
“This is moving pretty quickly, which isn’t unusual for Pete,” they say. “He’s a classic all-or-nothing character who falls in love very easily. But Kate’s friends are worried she’s going to eat him alive and, at the same time, she’s not doing herself any favours by dating someone who’s as vulnerable as Pete. If Kate goes ahead and breaks his heart, or just decides she’s not interested, then God knows how he’ll react.” The mum of one, 45, has been linked to two other toyboy comedians in the past year, dating 23-year-old Matt Rife on and off in 2018, as well as enjoying a brief fling with Jack Whitehall, 30. n
