La rosière

-

Aside from the high altitude, which makes for perfect ski conditions, the French resort of Val d’isère has a reputation for its wild nightlife, and regularly hosts top name DJS, who attract the likes of Made In Chelsea star Harry Baron and Jamie Oliver. But less than an hour away is La Rosière on the French/italian border, which is less of a party town, but still offers plenty of off-piste activities. On the French side, there are gentle slopes, perfect if you’re still learning, while the Italian side is more challenging for advanced skiers, plus you can try out heli-skiing (banned in France), snow kiting and paragliding. When you’re finished on the slopes, there’s a selection of dining options, and there are some great places for late-night cocktails, plus an indoor pool, ice rink and bowling alley.

book It: A seven-night stay at the spacious Chalet Papillon costs from just £619 per person, including full-board, flights and transfers (based on Manchester to Lyon) via Igluski.com. The chalet is just metres from the ski lift, ski school and town centre.
