Don’t miss instant family
Instant Family is a heart-warming, feel-good film that everyone will love
i
nspired by the hilarious real-life events of writer and director Seann Anders (Daddy’s Home, Daddy’s
Home 2), Instant Family (cert 12A) tells the story of Ellie and Pete, who decide to start a family and adopt through the foster-care system, only to find themselves raising three wild kids who have no interest in being parented.
Ellie (Bridesmaids star Rose Byrne) and Pete (Mark Wahlberg) are a successful couple, who renovate and sell homes for a living. When they decide to start a family, they cringe at the idea of being “those old parents” by the time their child graduates university. So, the pair begin to think it might be easier to adopt a young child, and pretend they kick-started the process years earlier.
Once Ellie and Pete look into the adoption process, they decide to foster before adopting a child. However, they’re soon surprised to develop an unusual connection to a rebellious teenage orphan (Isabela Moner) – who has two cheeky younger siblings!
Despite some early reservations, Ellie and Pete foster all three kids. As they welcome the tight-knit siblings into their lives, the couple find out – through lots of laughter and tears – what being a real family is all about.
