As her body-foundation and shapewear launches fizzle, is Kim’s empire on the wane?
She’s not taking the negative criticism too well
Of all the things that could bring down the terrifying colossus that is the Kardashian empire, who’d have thought it might be make-up and underwear? Friends and family are said to be worried about Kim Kardashian’s state of mind, after a week of devastating backlashes targeting her latest business ventures. And it’s affecting the overworked reality star’s marriage…
“It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Kim,” says an insider
close to the star, who recently launched a body foundation and a new range of shapewear. “She’s been absolutely savaged online over these new products, and if you know Kim, you know she takes every single negative comment directly to heart. She’s really in a bad way, and has barely slept since it all kicked off.”
As heat told you last week, the internet had a field day when the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star announced her new shapewear range was called Kimono Solutionwear – and that she was trying to trademark a word already used by the Japanese for their traditional robe. After widespread accusations of cultural appropriation, she later backtracked, confirming to her Instagram followers, “After careful thought and consideration, I will be launching my Solutionwear brand under a new name. I will be in touch soon.”
Adding to the drama was the awful reception given to her new KKW Body Foundation, developed after Kim, 38, struggled to cover up her psoriasis skin condition.
Both the shapewear and the make-up upset fans, who accused her of body shaming by implying imperfect skin needs covering up or camouflaging . “Kim’s horrified that online commenters have ripped into her for capitalising on people’s self-doubt, and making money from insecurities. She has so much on her plate already, so to be accused of body shaming and cultural appropriation in the same week was a real blow to her ego.”
Kim’s life is extremely hectic at the moment, even by her standards. Alongside her two new ventures and her hugely successful beauty line, she is filming the new series of Keeping Up With The Kardashians (and promoting the current one), studying to be a lawyer, launching a new campaign to support ex-convicts (making time for those all-important White House meetings), as well as supporting husband Kanye West’s Sunday Services. Oh, and she also has four children to spend time with, including her newborn son Psalm.
And with her whole life playing out on social media, even hanging out with her sisters requires her to look Instagram-immaculate. No wonder it’s impacting all aspects of her life and marriage.
“Kim and Kanye are barely

seeing each other,” our source says. “They went on a date night to try to reconnect, but Kim spent most of her time on the phone to her publicists, trying to figure out how to stem the flow of outrage against her. She’s in a permanent state of anxiety about losing everything she’s built up, so this really has been one of the toughest weeks of her life.” n
