Feel the rainbow with celebs’ latest wellness craze
Ride the rainbow with the latest celebrity wellness craze
Feeling blue? Or perhaps you’re green with envy? We’ve always connected colours to our emotions, and there’s a good reason why. Research shows that bathing yourself in a particular hue can alter your mood and even improve your health. So, if you’re wrestling with your inner “argh!”, the solution could be as simple as a colour cure.
How does it work?
The science behind colour therapy (or chromotherapy) is that each colour on the light spectrum has its own frequency. While we can’t see or feel these miniscule vibrations, they have an effect on our brains and bodies. Alternative medicine believes that many of our ailments are caused by disharmony in the vibrations of the body, and that colours can restore the natural balance. Colour psychologist and therapist Suzy Chiazzari explains, “Each of us has personal relationships with different colours, but we need exposure to all of the rainbow to be healthy and happy. Colour therapists introduce certain colours into your clothing, food and decor.”
Wellness warrior Fearne Cotton agrees that the colours we surround ourselves with at home can have a huge impact on our state of mind. “I can be quite hyper and energetic – lots of ideas buzzing in my head, lots of things to do – so, in my bedroom, I need calming colours,” she explains. “Having colour in our homes is a really lovely way to reconnect. It can alter our moods or enhance the feelings we want to have when we step into a room.”
How can we get a colour injection?
Of course, celebs have taken it to another level, finding crazy ways to turn up their colour volume. Chrissy Teigen, Jessica Alba and Kerry Washington are all big fans of LED facials, which use red and blue lights to stimulate oxygen, which will prevent acne and combat the signs of ageing. Chromayoga in East London has a growing fan base, and uses
a slowly changing spectrum of coloured lights, along with specially developed scents, to create a truly sensory experience.
But if you’re keen to see the world through rose-tinted glasses, colour therapy specs (GLOFX glasses, £13.99, Amazon) are a great way to flood your brain with rainbow shades.
Luckily, there are many ways
