When Wayne’s away, Coleen comes out to play
The WAG is determined to have fun without her wayward husband
After the year that she’s had, nobody could blame Coleen Rooney for letting her hair down and enjoying herself this summer. And she certainly did that, as she enjoyed a £100k girly break in Ibiza with her friends. With husband Wayne still in America playing football, the 32-year-old WAG left their four sons in the UK with her parents as she made the most of her long weekend, by hiring a luxury yacht for the day. And while she started
off the excursion drinking Champagne and looking her pristine holiday self, she was soon seen looking a little worse for wear as she continued drinking all day and evening (and even undid a bottle of wine with her teeth). As they stepped off the boat, Coleen appeared to be struggling to walk in a straight line and had to be helped by a couple of male companions before heading to a nearby hotel for more food and drink. And although she may have felt a little delicate the next morning, we’re told she loved
every moment of her girls’ holiday and was determined to show Wayne that he’s not the only one who can party and have fun.
“Coleen definitely had a wild time in Ibiza,” an insider tells heat. “She said she couldn’t care less how drunk she looked in the pictures – she was on a mission to live it up over there and to make up for the ‘crappy year’ she’s had since she moved to the US.”
The insider continues, “She was a little embarrassed over the pics, but she was saying ‘as if’ Wayne would dare to say a word! As far as she’s concerned, she’s played the dutiful wife and mother for a year, with no time for herself, so she deserves to let her hair down – she knows opening a bottle of wine with your teeth isn’t a great look, but she’s just laughing it off. She really felt she could relax without Wayne there, and said she had more fun without him.”
Wayne and Coleen – who are parents to Kai, nine, Klay, six, Kit, three, and 17-month-old Cass – have been living in Washington DC for the past year after the former England captain signed a deal with DC United. But their time has been plagued by Wayne’s misdemeanours, including getting arrested for being drunk at the airport and getting into a barmaid’s car after a ten-hour drinking session. All this came after Wayne was arrested for drink-driving in August 2017, while taking home party girl Laura Simpson from a bar in Cheshire and pregnant Coleen was on holiday with the kids. She’s also had to deal with Helen Wood – the former sex worker who had a threesome with Wayne back in 2009 – writing a book detailing more allegations about Wayne cheating on his wife. So it’s understandable she wanted to enjoy herself.
Our insider adds, “It’s not really Coleen’s style to be seen looking like that in public, but everyone gets a bit drunk when they’re on holiday, and she says she’s now so unused to drinking and partying that it went to her head too fast. But she’s taking it all in good

humour. She’s said it just shows she needs more practice – and she’s determined to make up for lost time this summer. She’s planning on turning it into one big party holiday. She is adamant that, after the year she’s had, she deserves a break, and that Wayne
can stick it if he has anything to say – which she knows he won’t have.”
The insider continues, “Coleen’s been pretty low these past few months – and lonely. And she needs this time on her own to just party again. She really misses having a social life and hanging around with her friends. Things are back to normal at home, but there’s still tension and she’s got a lot of anger toward Wayne. Coleen is determined to live it up without him. And she’s happy he’s seeing it, too – while he’s sitting at home in Washington, alone, training hard. She’s hoping he now knows what it feels like to be the one worrying and made to look a fool of...”
Thanks to Coleen and Wayne’s £70million fortune, the insider says that money was no object, with Coleen making sure she and the girls had the best of everything. “She had been planning and looking forward to this weekend for ages,” we’re told. “It was all her best mates getting together for some quality catch-up time. They had a full-on itinerary. They partied at [cool club] Ushuaia one day. They had a V-VIP table – the bill came to about £15k. And the yacht bill was about £50k, plus the hotel – that easily brought her spend for the weekend up to around £100k.” There was also an added bonus. “She’s looking amazing right now,” says the source. “She was having to fight off a bit of male attention!”
But this isn’t the end of the party for Coleen – who was back on mum duty as soon as she got home, taking the three older boys out for the day. As well as a trip to Portugal with her family and the kids, we’re told she wants at least one more girls’ weekend away before she goes back to America. “Coleen is in a party mood and she just wants to make the most of it,” says the source. “Last year she took it fairly easy, as she still had a young baby, but now she’s making up for lost time. She’s talking about another break with the girls, either back in Ibiza or in Mykonos. This is her way of dealing with things.” ■
