‘This is a massive step for them’
They had one of the messiest divorces of recent times, even by Hollywood standards – but, praise be, it looks like relations may finally be thawing between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. In fact, according to insiders, the former couple have had a major breakthrough, as Ange has agreed to let Brad look after their six children over the summer while she’s working abroad. To be clear, this is monumental progress for the exes, who’ve spent the last three years locked in a never-ending custody battle.
“Angelina is going to be spending a lot of the summer filming [upcoming thriller] Those Who Wish Me Dead, so she reached out to Brad and offered him the chance to look after the children,” an insider
close to the actress revealed last week. “This is a massive step for them and the children, who have only had limited time with Brad since the break-up. Brad is over the moon.”
It’s no doubt been a long time coming for the Hollywood actor, who in April reportedly gave Angelina, 44, an ultimatum to finally sign divorce papers – insisting that a judge set a deadline for December 2019 – after accusing her of dragging her heels. The embittered exes, who got together in 2004 and married in 2014, before splitting two years later, have been at war ever since over custody of their six children – Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and ten-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. Last December, it was reported that the couple had reached a “private custody arrangement” – but this was apparently a temporary fix, and they’re still at loggerheads over how to split their time with their brood.
But now it seems they might be making some genuine headway in sorting out their situation for good, after 55-year-old Brad’s divorce deadline forced Angelina to make some allowances. And, unsurprisingly, the grandparents are just as delighted. A source revealed, “It feels like a really positive move all round. Brad’s invited his parents, Jane and William, to stay with them at his mansion in LA, so they can have some proper family time together.”
