‘Kevin doesn’t want to be humiliated’

They didn’t have the best of starts to their relationship, and now heat’s heard that things between Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton could already be over after less than a year of dating.

Insiders say the couple – who met on the last series of Strictly Come Dancing, while Stacey was still with her then boyfriend Sam Tucknott – are wondering whether they have done the right thing now the initial excitement of dating has worn off, and are seriously thinking about their long-term future together.

“The build-up to Stacey and Kevin officially getting together made everything so much more exciting, and they loved being able

to come out as a couple after hiding it for so long,” a source tells heat. “But reality has started to sink in, and now they’re questioning whether they’re really right for one another. They get on great, but are worried it may be more of a friendship than a romantic relationship.”

After Stacey split with Sam – who claimed she got together with the Strictly pro while they were still together, which she denies – she moved in to Kevin’s house. However, she has now moved back out and into her old flat, and we’re told Kevin is worried that this is the beginning of the end. And, as he’s been married three times before, he’s concerned he’ll be painted as the bad guy.

“If they split, which is what many friends think is bound to happen, Kevin is desperate not to lose face and be humiliated,” we’re told. “He’s hoping they can come to some kind of agreement, so Stacey would never speak badly of him and he isn’t portrayed as a womaniser. He used to be seen as the good guy of Strictly, but all that has changed. They’re both dreading the series starting again next month, because he will no doubt be linked to his partner. Some friends think that they may call time on their relationship before it starts, and that way, they can avoid the Strictly curse rumours again.” n
