The dust is settling after the Beckhams’ 20thanniversary love fest, and Posh is worried David is going back to his old ways
VB’S summer of fun isn’t actually all that fun
You’d think the Beckhams were being sponsored by the Miami tourist board from the looks of their recent holiday to the Florida city. Just a couple of weeks after celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary, the family jetted off to the US for a holiday – and to look for apartments – as David continues working on his Inter Miami CF Major League Soccer team. And while the numerous pictures of their adventures tell the story of a loving family, we’re told Victoria is feeling out in the cold once again.
“It seems, for David and Victoria, that the last year was all about building up to their 20th wedding anniversary, and now it’s back to normal life with a bit of a bump,” an insider close to the couple tells us. “For Victoria, it feels like everything has gone back to reality, because David feels like he’s put in the effort and now he doesn’t need to do anything special. She was loving all the extra attention she was getting
from him, him being around more and the two of them doing some romantic things as a couple – but it’s like the switch has just gone off all of a sudden.”
With David’s new football team set to make its debut in the US league in 2020, we’re told the 44 year old feels the bulk of his time should be dedicated to that venture. “David is saying he just needs to focus more attention on business now and that Vic’s making a big deal out of things,” our insider tells us. “He’s exhausted from having to meet her expectations of romance and affection. They are both
incredibly busy with their careers and the family, and he’s tired of her always having a go at him over this particular aspect of things. He just wishes she would understand that, and not always make it an issue.”
The problem is – after sharing gushing messages about each other on their anniversary, and spending the occasion having a romantic private tour of the Palace of Versailles – we’re told Posh now feels like their relationship has taken a step backwards. “She’s getting really pissed off again,” says the source. “They’d put in so much effort to really get things back on track recently – and it was working, they’d been having a lot of fun. Now she feels like she’s having to beg for attention again.”
Pictures of the family in Miami showed David playing the perfect father with three of the couple’s four children. The former footballer was seen having the time of his life with Romeo, 16, Cruz, 14, and eight-year-old Harper on the family trip. The Beckhams enjoyed a day at a local water park and took a fishing trip on a luxury yacht, as well as the usual family pastime of kicking a football about. Brooklyn, 20, chose to remain at home in London instead of joining them on the holiday, where he found himself in a spot of bother after picking up two parking tickets in the space of four hours (left).
While it seemed like their holiday was indeed the “pictureperfect life” that Victoria, 45, is after, the insider adds that there’s one major thing missing. “Vic feels like no matter what she does to try to bring them together, David is only really available to her when it suits him,” we’re told. “David knows Victoria wants a fairy tale, but he thinks she needs to accept that no one gets that version of things – and they would be a lot happier if she stopped always pushing for it.”

'Vic feels like she’s having to beg for attention again’
decidedly “frozen out” of their social circle. “David went to a friend’s engagement party last month, but Vic didn’t appear to get an invite, which left her furious,” we’re told. “She feels as though she is being pushed out of a whole group of David’s friends because they don’t think she’s any fun – and David always has to be on his best behaviour when she’s around.” But Posh seems to have come up with a master plan to ensure she won’t be NFI-ED again. While the family were in Miami, they were pictured visiting the One Thousand Museum – a high-rise residential building with apartments that range between £5m and £45m. Our insider reveals that VB is pushing for the family to have their own base in Miami, so that she can turn David’s wild nights out into wild nights in. “She’s insisting that they have a base in Miami, and have been househunting in the area,” our insider explains. “She’s determined not to let his work out there affect their relationship. They’ve been looking at some eye-wateringly expensive properties, because Vic wants to be the ultimate hostess and make sure that David’s friends want to hang out there with her, rather than run off for lads’ nights out.”
However, David seems to have other ideas. “He believes that time out from one another is the key to a long-lasting happy marriage,” says the source. “It’s one of the reasons why he took on the Miami project in the first place. He doesn’t see any problem in them living parts of their lives separately, where they spend time with different friendship groups.”
But, ultimately, Victoria is yet again feeling isolated. “While there’s no doubt David loves her, what she wants is for them to be a couple that basically live for each other and spend every day together,” adds the insider. “She was hoping that by getting to this point – their 20th anniversary – it would really solidify them as a couple and bring about a subtle change. But now she feels like David almost regarded it as a marker, and now that it’s done, he can get back to doing his own thing. Vic is back to how she was before – always trying to fight for his attention.” ■
