‘I swiped about 40 condoms when I left’
In the eyes of many fans, Amy Hart was the true winner of this year’s Love Island. The 26 year old made the decision to leave the villa with three weeks still to go, after a dramatic split with “half-boyfriend” Curtis Pritchard. But, Amy tells us, the outpouring of love from fans on her return was “totally unexpected”, adding, “No one in the villa thought I should’ve gone.”
But she hasn’t done badly out of it. In the weeks since she left, the Worthing native has rubbed shoulders with the likes of Robbie Williams, Piers Morgan and Emily Atack at the ITV summer party (Emily is, she tells us, “brilliant and had me in stitches”), as well as having a “pinch me moment” appearing as a guest panelist on Loose Women, with rumours she’ll be back soon.
Life for the former air hostess is crazy at the moment, but it’s clear she’s still getting over her heartbreak. And Amy is not looking forward to her first encounter with Curtis and Maura. She reveals that she’s not planning on reaching out to Curtis, saying (a little sarcastically), “Maura is very big on girl code. I wouldn’t like to contact her other half.”
Amy insists she was friends with the model, even if Maura says otherwise, but it’s clear the girls are different. “She likes to make a
statement and be controversial,” she tells us. “She’s like a Katie Hopkins-esque character. She’s got a Kim Woodburn vibe.”
So, does Amy regret not cracking on to anyone else in the villa ? “No,” she says, shaking her head. “I’ve got very niche specifications when it comes to guys.” In fact, her specifications are so niche, it’s almost suspicious how well Curtis seemed to check all the boxes. After leaving the villa, Amy says she joked with the producers, telling them, “It’s a bit late now, but did you have another showman with a dad bod waiting in the wings?” She also reveals, “I asked, ‘Did you always know [I’d couple up with Curtis]?’ and they were like, ‘Yeah’.”
She may not have left the villa with a boyfriend – half or otherwise – but Amy did swipe a few souvenirs. She says, “I took shitloads of condoms! About 40.” n
