How Perrie Edwards stays looking FAF

Singer and girl band member Perrie, 26, is all about body confidence

#038 Perrie Edwards

She’s one quarter of the biggest girl band in the UK, and Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards has a figure to die for. Yet, she keeps it real by talking honestly about her body hang-ups and her struggles with her mental health. She and her bandmates are on a mission to do it for the girls, posing completely naked last year for their body positivity anthem Strip. Who run the world?

Skinspiration

This gorgeous gal didn’t always have radiantly clear skin, and swears by Simple’s Kind To Skin Micellar Cleansing Wipes (Boots, £4.19). She says, “I couldn’t live without them – my skin has totally changed since I started using face wipes. I had really bad skin and ‘backne’, and these wipes have honestly changed my life.”

Little & often

“My mum said that doing little ten-minute bursts of exercise is actually more beneficial,” she says. “So I have my little ten minutes doing any kind of bum exercises, or I love squats, abs and arm exercises. Anything to benefit my bum, my legs and my abs.”

Where’s your head At?

Perrie has talked about her struggle with anxiety, saying, “I have suffered really badly with panic attacks. When I first started to feel the effects of anxiety, I thought I was losing my mind and it terrified me. I felt like I was having a heart attack. As soon as I realised I wasn’t going insane, I felt more able to beat it. I had therapy and I surround myself with my loved ones. Talking to someone relieves you of so much stress.”

Scars and all

During childhood, Perrie underwent multiple operations on her oesophagus because it was too small and didn’t allow her to eat properly. She still has a scar above those amazing abs, and Perrie has admitted it’s her biggest body hang-up. She didn’t want people to see it but, after opening up on social media, she’s empowered other women to embrace their socalled flaws.

fitness = fun

Perrie wouldn’t be part of a girl band without having to learn dance routines for shows. “One of the things that keeps me motivated is when we’re on tour, because the rehearsals and the preparation are so intense,” she says. “That’s when I get fit and we build our stamina, because it’s like exercising the fun way. You need to do something you enjoy so it occupies you a bit – even yoga or Pilates.”
