With Love Island making a swift and dramatic exit as usual, we’re welcoming Celebs Go Dating back into our lives to watch more people try to find love. Well, let’s be honest, we’re watching it for the hilarious car-crash dates really.
Stepping up to bat this year is former Blue singer Lee Ryan, who has had his fair share of romantic highs and lows in his time. Lee is father to ten-year-old Rayn, who he shares with ex-girlfriend Sammi Miller. Sammi and Lee had been engaged after welcoming their son in 2008, but split just a couple of years later when she accused him of assault. Sammi called her ex “vile” after he enjoyed various romps with Casey Batchelor and Jasmine Waltz in the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2014. But Lee tells us he’s fed up of his bad-boy reputation. “It really gets on my f**king nerves when people think of me as a womaniser, or that kind of guy. I’m really not,” Lee insists. “I went on Big Brother, and I was talking to two girls. I should’ve gone on Love Island where that’s normal!” Lee, 36, is the first to admit his relationship with Sammi was “toxic”, but tells us they’re in a totally different
place these days. “The relationship with my little boy’s mum was very toxic when we first got together,” Lee tells heat. “It was very public, too. It made me look like an absolute c**t. She knows now she did it [accused him of assault] out of spite – it was vindictive. But now we’ve grown and we’re the most amazing friends. I absolutely adore her now. Sammi’s amazing. We have an amazing son together and we co-parent in the best way.”
And if he does find love on the reality show, the lucky lady shouldn’t be expecting a big white wedding. “I’m not the marrying type, if I’m honest. I think it’s an old tradition. I’d rather just go to the woods and make a vow in front of Mother Nature. Then we take some magic mushrooms, have a party and become hippies.” n
