Paul to his ex: ‘I won’t give you my dough’
Their divorce is getting nasty
They say money makes the world go round, but it also makes grown adults hella petty and spiteful. Last week, divorce proceedings between Paul Hollywood and his estranged wife Alexandra imploded, as she reportedly demanded half of his £10million fortune and he told her – in not so many words – to get lost.
The acrimonious couple – who share a 17-year-old son, Josh – split in November 2017, after nearly 20 years of marriage. They were granted the first part of their divorce earlier this month, but things have now screeched dramatically to a halt. A judge issued the decree nisi, which lists the Great British Bake Off presenter’s “adultery” as the reason. But a decree absolute can’t happen until the pair can come to a financial arrangement. And a
source last week confirmed things were getting “nasty”, adding, “Paul isn’t prepared to give Alex the sum that she’s been advised she’s entitled to at this stage. She hoped it would be straightforward, but it’s now far from that. It’s really sad that it is getting this nasty.” The source added that things could now drag on for months, and the end is “a long way off”.
It’s been a tense year-and-a-half for Paul, 53, and chef Alexandra, 54, who previously split and reconciled in 2013 after the celeb baker cheated with US TV chef Marcela Valladolid. After the split, Paul quickly began dating 24-year-old Summer Monteysfullam – although both insist there was no affair. Despite this, Alex and Summer dramatically clashed in a supermarket car park earlier this year, with Alex reportedly branding Summer a “slut” and banging on her car window, which Alex strongly denies. Adding insult to injury, Summer was seen wearing a “Hollywood” T-shirt the same day as the divorce hearing.
Alex has admitted finding the split “very tough”, saying, “You don’t expect it, you are in shock, and all of a sudden you are on your own. I was married for 20 years. But you keep going.” And in the last week, she’s taken to liking tweets from supportive fans, including one that read, “I believe that sometimes the bad times in our life put us on a direct path to the very best times.” Another message read, “Never look back, always look to the future, strong woman.” A third said, “Onwards and upwards”, while one more told her, “Stay strong, amazing lady.” ■
