Simon Cowell’s ditched the booze and the fags (ish) and now he reckons he’s an 11 out of ten
He’s looking “ten years younger”
‘I’ve gone from an eight out of ten to an 11!’
All eyes were on Simon Cowell as he left Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions filming last week looking noticeably slimmer. Sitting in the back of a plush car alongside girlfriend Lauren Silverman, the 59 year old sipped on a “skinny” beer, clutching a pack of Menthol cigarettes, as his shining white teeth beamed out at photographers.
The music mogul is believed to have lost more than a stone by embarking on a new healthy lifestyle, which includes going vegan… slowly. Simon has cut out meat, dairy, wheat and sugar, and is now phasing out fish in the approach to his 60th birthday this October. However, he couldn’t quite say goodbye to his beloved beer and cigarettes, although he has
cut down his drinking and smoking.
Earlier this year, he revealed he’d made the decision to overhaul his lifestyle after falling down the stairs in October 2017. Simon admitted his stress levels were at an all-time high and, as he puts it, “Suddenly you say, ‘I can’t live like this any more.’” He’s also spoken of his decision to enlist the help of a doctor to help him with his nutrition. “A friend of mine, who is a doctor, recommended speaking to an expert, and I did it on a whim. Within 24 hours, I changed my diet and I’ve not looked back since. You feel better, you look better. I cut out a lot of the stuff I shouldn’t have been eating, and that was meat, dairy, wheat, sugar. They were the main things.”
And it wasn’t easy for the BGT judge, who has a list of favourite foods that would make a dietician squeal. “I loved those comfort foods, that’s all I’ve eaten all my life. I love jam tarts, hamburgers, spaghetti Bolognese. I still eat fish, but this year, I will go the whole way.”
His five-year-old son Eric – who Simon credits for changing his perspective on his work/life balance – has not made things easy for his dad, though. “The hardest thing was when we were skiing and Eric ordered a pizza. I stared at the pizza for three minutes, then I thought, ‘Oh God, I can’t do it’. And I didn’t.” But Lauren, 42, has embraced his healthy eating regime and has “kind of gone the same way”.
Comments flooded the internet praising Simon’s new slim look, with some saying he looked, “healthy”, “hot”, and even “ten years younger”. No one is loving Simon’s new look more than Simon, though. He’s said, “If I was on a one to ten scale of being handsome, I was an eight and now I’ve gone to an 11!” ■
