Where is the coolest hotel you have stayed?
I went to LA with KISS FM and Disney about two years ago, and they put me up in the Montage hotel. It’s mentioned in the Post Malone tune Rockstar – there’s a line, “I threw a TV out of the Montage…” The service was incredible, and the rooftop pool is apparently Kendall Jenner’s favourite. When I got there, I lay on the bed, pressed a button for the curtains to open, put KUWTK on and ordered pizza to my room.
Which trip changed your life?
I did the “gap yah” thing when I finished uni. I went around South East Asia with two of my best mates, Levi and Josh, and it was two months of being out on our own in a different culture with no jobs. I had the best time of my life, before going into the real world.
What’s the funniest souvenir you’ve brought?
In Vietnam, this artist was recreating a life-size Mona Lisa. It was an amazing replica and we were leaving that day, so I was like, “I want it!” It cost $80, which sounds cheap, but in Vietnam, it’s a fortune, because she spent hours painting it. Now it sits behind a wardrobe in my flat.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve put in your mouth on holiday?
I ate a scorpion in Thailand. It was deep-fried, but without batter, so it still looked like a scorpion. It tasted like burned chicken.
Can you give us an insider’s travel tip for your hometown?
My hometown is Preston. If you go, you need to start at Guys Court, which is in north Preston, on the canal. Have a few drinks there, then get a taxi to the Italian Orchard and smash out a pizza and some seafood. What three things do you always pack in your suitcase? I just always take a pair of Ray-bans – I love sunglasses and I wear them all the time!
