‘dermal fillers make his cheeks look enhanced’

The nation had a lot to say about Simon Cowell when he walked the America’s Got Talent launch red carpet last week. Those gleaming teeth. The drooping eyes and popping cheeks. Not to mention that seriously creepy ear crease. “OMG, WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO HIS FACE?” one fan demanded to know, while another guessed, “Liposuction, face lift, Botox around the eyes, dyed hair, fluorescent veneers... he looks ridiculous.”

The music mogul, who turns 60 in October, has always been honest about his love of nip and tucks, saying he’s been guilty of having “too much Botox”, using cheek filler and having a full face lift last year in his quest to stay youthful. He’s also reportedly spent £50,000 on his teeth in the last decade, from having veneers to regular whitening sessions. On top of that, he’s lost 20lbs since late 2017, after taking up a vegan diet.

However, fans aren’t convinced his latest look is all down to his diet. And when heat spoke to leading cosmetic surgeon Dr Amar Suchde from AMS of 10 Harley Street (@ams_aesthetics), he agreed.

“During weight loss, the redistribution of facial fat can cause areas of depleted volume loss that can

make you look more aged and give a saggy appearance on the entire face, including the cheeks, jowls and neck. In my opinion, this happened to Simon so he’s had dermal filler to replenish it, which is why his cheeks look more enhanced.

“The problem with too much of this is that it can make you appear doll-like. He also has a crease by his ear, which shows it’s been pulled back – but that’s likely to have been there before, from his previous face lift. You can also see that certain parts of his face look tighter, which could have been aided by laser treatments. As there appears to be no lines on his forehead, I’d suggest he’s also had more Botox.”

But, according to Dr Suchde, Simon could have gone a little overboard on the wrinkle-freezing injections, saying, “If too much Botox is injected in the upper region of the forehead, it can cause the lower muscles to compensate for it. This causes drooping of the brow, which I think has happened to Simon.” n
