years James ‘Arg’ Argent by the end of this year – although he wants to marry before then.
“I’m old-fashioned, so we might go abroad and [get married] in Italy or Spain,” Arg, who’s currently preparing to swim the English Channel for Channel 4’s Sink Or Swim, has said. “The first time we made love was in Marbella, so it would be nice to get married there.” TMI…
While Gemma, 38, is blown away by his pleas to elope, her friends are suspicious he’s got his eye on a slice of her £5million fortune. “Gem’s pals are worried because she’s been showing off about how much money she’s made, and they think Arg sees her as a meal ticket,” says our source. “She hasn’t even spoken to lawyers yet about protecting her assets. Although they have issues and she’s kicked him out more times than she can remember, she still hasn’t given up on the dream of marriage and babies with him. So, when he tells her he wants to commit and elope, it melts her heart and she will say yes to whatever he’s offering her.”
As well as her friends’ concerns, fans have also criticised Arg’s behaviour on her show Diva Forever, in which he’s mocked her snoring and kept her waiting alone on date night for half an hour.
“I hate the way Arg talks to Gemma. At whatever chance he has, he seems to just knock her down,” tweeted one upset viewer.
Although earlier this month, Gemma said she and Arg, 31, had discussed signing a nondisclosure agreement so they couldn’t speak about each other if they split, friends say when it comes to a prenup, her common sense goes out of the window.
“Gemma is a savvy businesswoman, but when it comes to love, it’s a different story,” says the source. “She simply won’t foresee a divorce and she feels in her bones that, if her and James end up saying ‘I do’, then it will really be ’til death do them part. She doesn’t believe that it would turn nasty, despite all the red flags she’s had from James’ behaviour.” n
