Another week, another scandal for Wayne Rooney, and Coleen can’t take make much more
Coleen is at ‘breaking point’ over Wayne’s latest scandal
The news might give you déjà vu, but Coleen and Wayne Rooney are once again facing a crisis in their marriage, after the footballer was pictured with his arm around a woman’s waist in a club, before later being pictured getting into a hotel lift with a different woman at 5.30am.
Furious Coleen, 33, immediately flew out to the US to bring him back home to the UK. It’s an understatement to say things looked frosty between the pair as they landed in Manchester airport. And a source close to Coleen tells us she is feeling “hurt and humiliated” by the scandal.
“Coleen is miserable, her head is a mess. She hates that Wayne keeps on doing this to her, and
that he doesn’t seem to care that he hurts and humiliates her. But she’s also devastated for her boys, and knows this will be awful for them. Right now she’s saying that she needs to know every detail about what happened, and then take it from there.”
Wayne was in Vancouver, Canada, with his DC United teammates on a night out that went on for more than seven hours, and reportedly included jumping into a jacuzzi at someone’s apartment after the clubs had closed. While in the VIP area at one nightclub, Wayne, 33, was pictured talking to a brunette woman, who at one point had her arm draped around him. Hours later, he was pictured outside the hotel where the team were staying, with a different woman. The pair both entered the hotel lift together.
After the shocking pictures emerged, Wayne released a statement which said, “Nothing happened between me and any girl on that night in Vancouver. I did not enter the lift alone with the girl pictured in the hotel foyer. The girl pictured in the club was simply one of many who innocently asked for autographs and pictures.” He added, “This whole story was a smear against me. It is damaging to my family and not something I am prepared to put up with.”
Our source tells us Coleen – who is mother to the couple’s four boys – encouraged Wayne to release the statement. “Wayne put out the statement mainly for
Coleen – because she can’t stand looking like a doormat any longer. He swore he would never humiliate her again – he’s made so many promises to her, and he breaks them all. He promised he wouldn’t get drunk, he promised he wouldn’t put himself in any sort of compromising position... and he broke those promises at the first chance he got.”
It had only recently been confirmed that Wayne would be terminating his contract with DC United in order to move back to the UK and play for Derby. At the time, Wayne stated that “[family] is the most important thing” and had been the main influence on his decision. As heat has previously reported, Coleen was the driving factor behind the family’s return to the UK, after a difficult year living in the US – which included Wayne being arrested for public intoxication, and getting into the car of a local barmaid – and we’re told she thought all of the stress was over. “Coleen is trying to be as business-like as possible about it – she’s on autopilot, just trying to keep busy. But her friends worry that she’s going to have a breakdown – she’s put up with a lot this year, being so lonely and miserable, and it’s all been building up.”
Our insider continues, “They’ve just come through a really stressful time – making a big decision on their future – and she’s had to deal with all of that, and now this, just as she was about to start a new chapter in life, moving in to their new house and no longer having to deal with ‘big club’ football and media. She thought that once Wayne was signed up at Derby, it would all quieten down.”
And she didn’t waste a second on her quick flit to Washington. Moving vans were seen packing up belongings at the couple’s house, with Coleen carrying boxes herself, seemingly to speed up the process and get
her errant husband home. “Coleen insisted Wayne come back home to the UK immediately while she’s figuring things out,” our insider says. “There’s even a suggestion she might want him to go to rehab, in a last-ditch bid to save the marriage.”
Over the past week Coleen has been spotted multiple times without her wedding ring on, but our source reveals she does want to stay married, even if it’s just for their boys – Kai, nine, Klay, six, Kit, three, and 18-month-old Cass. “Coleen’s parents are trying to keep a calm head about the situation, and broker peace between them. Her parents are very traditional Catholics, and are totally against divorce. They’ve always put a lot of pressure on Coleen, telling her she needs

to work things out. They’ve suggested going to counselling, and getting help for Wayne – they think it would wreck the kids’ lives, and hers, if she and Wayne were to divorce.”
But it seems even Coleen’s parents see the situation has become extreme. “They know this might be the last straw, and recognise that there could be no ‘forgiving and moving on’ from this one. He’s crossed all the lines, and it’s stupid to think that Coleen would just get on with life following this. But they think that if he went to rehab for his drinking, then at least it would give them space and the opportunity for a proper fresh start.”
But we hear that all Coleen wants at the moment is the truth. All of it. “wayne is once again insisting he did nothing wrong, and that it’s all the media trying to set him up – that’s what he says to Coleen every time, and mostly she buys it. But this time she’s told Wayne she can’t handle any more lies. She wants to find out exactly what happened on the night out – if that means talking to the two women themselves, or even the photographer. She can’t not know the truth – and this is her breaking point.” n
