Meghan celebrates her fashion launch…

- KATIE HOLLOWAY

Last week, Meghan Markle made her first official appearance after giving birth to baby Archie in May. The Duchess of Sussex was launching her capsule fashion collection for the charity Smart Works, which she has been a patron of since January.

The charity was set up to help unemployed women get back into work by coaching them for interviews and providing them with appropriate clothing. Of the launch, Meghan said, “Since moving to the UK, it has been deeply important to me to meet with communities and organisations on the ground doing meaningful work, and to try to do whatever I can to help them amplify their impact. I am excited to celebrate the launch of another initiative of women supporting women, and communities working together for the greater good.”

The charity relies on donated clothes, and during a previous visit, Meghan, 38, noticed that, “While the donations were plentiful, they were also notably a combination of mismatched items and colours, which weren’t always the right stylistic choices or sizes that didn’t necessarily ‘suit’ the job at hand: to make a woman feel confident and inspired as she walked into her job interview.” She, therefore, decided to work with M&S, John Lewis and

Jigsaw – as well as her designer friend Misha Nonoo – to create a collection of stylish workwear that could benefit Smart Works. The brands agreed that for every item purchased during the limited run of the collection, one would be donated to a Smart Works client.

Harry and Meghan’s official Instagram account, @sussexroyal, recently revealed a video of her surprising models at the photo shoot for the collection. She could be seen consulting with the photographer and helping style some of the outfits.

For those looking to copy her style, Meg arrived at the launch wearing the collection’s £125 shirt designed by Misha, and a pair of £120 Jigsaw trousers. Work it, Duchess. ■
