Simon Cowell’s so happy with his vegan-diet transformation, he’s put Cheryl on to it, too

Singer calls on Simon Cowell for help

‘it’s given her the confidence boost she needs’

We wouldn’t exactly call Simon Cowell the poster boy for healthly living, but after his vegan-diet transformation over the last year, it seems some people are hoping to follow in his footsteps. And by some people, we mean his former colleague Cheryl.

“She’s been amazed by Simon’s dramatic transformation thanks to his vegan diet and wants to wow people in the same way that he has,” an insider tells heat. “She’s adopted the same strict regime as Si and has asked him for tips – but some of her friends are worried, as she already looks great and they feel she is just putting unnecessary pressure on herself once again.”

Simon, who recently turned 60, has lost over 1st 7lbs after embarking on his new healthy lifestyle. He’s cut out meat, dairy, wheat and sugar and is thrilled with the results, revealing in an interview, “I’ve not looked back since. You feel better, you look better.” Our source tells us that 36-year-old Cheryl has also cut out all meat, dairy, wheat and sugar. We’re told that the reason for her friends’ concern is the fear that she’s taking it too far, especially considering the mum of one has previously admitted to being an “extremist” when it comes to workouts and diets. Earlier this year the singer revealed that she does hot yoga in such intense heat that “you feel like you’re dying”. She also admitted to drinking celery juice and apple cider vinegar to help her lose weight. Our insider adds, “Her friends are concerned she won’t have enough energy to keep up with her already intense regime.”

But Cheryl – who performed with her Greatest Dancer co-star Todrick Hall at his London show last week – claims it has had the opposite effect. “She has said she’s been sleeping a lot better – not keeping herself up all night thinking about her career,” says the insider. “She feels that without all the processed foods and sugar, she is less stimulated at night and can function better the next day. She thinks she looks great and has been saying that this is the confidence boost she’s needed, after everything she’s had to endure with Liam recently.”

Liam – with whom Cheryl has a son, Bear, two – isn’t quite as good as Cheryl at keeping quiet about their relationship. Last week he spoke out about their break-up, admitting intense public scrutiny played a large part. “That stuff puts so much pressure on a relationship,” he said, adding, “Cheryl’s had that pressure for life.” He also revealed it would “take [Cheryl] so long to get out of the door”, because she was so worried about “what that [paparazzi] shot is going to look like”. n
