Posh’s not-so-secret secret to a perfect marriage

She’s one of the world’s most influential women, with a mega-fashion brand, a 20-year marriage and four amazing children – so when Victoria Beckham speaks, we listen. And we were just dying to hear what she had to say last week, when she was asked what the secret to a happy marriage was. Separate bathrooms? Epic date nights? Industrial-strength Viagra? As it happens, her answer was more straightforward: “The kids are our priority,” she said. Er, call that a secret, Posh?
Vic’s revelations came last week as she promoted her new beauty line in the US. Speaking on the Today show, the fashion designer mused on how she and husband David had made it to their 20th anniversary. She revealed, “Everything we do revolves around the children. But we both work really hard… I think it’s just being focused, working hard and having a great support team around us. Both of our parents are very, very present and help with the kids.”
There’s no denying that the Beckhams come as a package of six – a brief scan of their Instagram accounts shows levels of happy family smugness rivalled only by the Von Trapps. Only last week, we saw David and eldest son Brooklyn, 20, laughing together in an outdoor hot tub. This followed a summer spent vacaying in Italy, where we saw Posh, Becks, Brooklyn, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 14, and eight-year-old Harper frolicking on luxury boats and larking about poolside. As heat has told you previously, the family’s closeness has been tested over the past year, with David partially based in Miami, as he launches his football team. But they’ve always argued that spending time together is key.
Posh’s words followed an interview she gave earlier this year, in which she explained how she and David share responsibilities, depending on who’s in the country. “He’s currently at home in London doing the school run, cooking dinner and helping with homework, so that I can be here,” she said, speaking from New York.
You’ll be pleased to hear, however, that Super Posh still has time for romance. Speaking in the same interview last week, she said that meeting David in 1997 was “love at first sight”. She added that the couple, who celebrated their anniversary earlier this year with a trip to Paris, “support each other. We’re lucky to have found each other and lucky that we’re growing together.”
That’s sweet and all, but we’re still waiting to hear that secret, VB… n
