Jen asks Brad to trim her Christmas fir

Get your filthy minds out of the gutter

All we want for Christmas is… for Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston to be happily back together. Please Santa, we’ve been really good this year. And, after a source tells heat the couple are back in regular contact, we might be closer to our Christmas wish than you think. In fact, Jen is planning on inviting Brad round to help trim her tree.

“It’s pretty certain they’ll be getting together at some point and both of them are really excited,” says our insider. “Jen’s throwing her annual tree-trimming bash in the next few weeks, and Brad will probably be invited. But, if he decides it’s too much fanfare being around her friends, then there will be other opportunities for them to hang out. She’s planning a few dinner parties at her house and he’s going to be in LA for most of the holidays, so they’ve promised each other they’ll get together. They just have to figure out the dates and details.” For those uninitiated in the tradition of tree-trimming parties, it’s an American custom where friends gather at each others’ houses to decorate their trees, as opposed to lounging around, drinking mulled wine like us Brits. And we’re told Jen – who was reportedly thrilled when Brad turned up to her 50th birthday party in February – is keen to quaff eggnog, hang a few baubles and perhaps do even more with her former husband.

Our source explains, “They speak on the phone and text each other the all the time, exchanging tips about the best movies they have seen, sending funny jokes or memes, or just seeing how each of them is doing in general.”

While it was recently denied that Brad, 55, was dating 30-year-old Transparent and Arrested Development actress Alia Shawkat, Brad and Jen are also happy just as friends for now. “There’s still that lingering hope in both their friendship groups that they may give their romance another shot one day. But nobody’s pressuring them and they’re content to just keep things platonic for now,” we’re told. “They’re really close and there’s no awkwardness between them whatsoever, even with the whole ‘Will they or won’t they get back together?’ elephant in the room.” ■
