Princess Bea in home-wrecking scandal
One has been plagued by beastly rumours
Who needs reality TV when you have a monarchy, eh? While the world and his wife obsess over Meghan Markle, Princess Beatrice has also been ruffling feathers after it was reported that she was responsible for breaking up her new boyfriend’s family. The 30 year old has been dating property tycoon Edoardo “Edo” Mapelli Mozzi for two months, ever since they coupled up at sister Princess Eugenie’s wedding (see, even royals pull on the dance floor). But last week, her new romance turned sour, after the father of Edo’s former fiancée suggested that Beatrice may be to blame for their break-up.
It’s unclear exactly when Edo, 34, split with Dara Huang, the mother of his two-year-old son, Wolfie. But according to her father Po-tien, a retired NASA scientist, the uncoupling may well have been sparked by Princess Bea. He told reporters last week, “It’s not fair, but the royal family are so powerful – what can I do? We don’t know how Dara is going to take care of it. It’s a sad time and situation.” Naturally, royal sources were quick to dismiss all the reports, responding, “She would never allow herself to break into another couple’s happiness, especially if there was a small child.”
These new claims are a fresh blow to Princess Bea, who had to deal with “Bridget Jones” comments after she rocked up solo to Eugenie’s wedding in October, three months after her ex, Dave Clark, got married in Italy. Now, as her little sister looks forward to her first Christmas as a Mrs, let’s hope Beatrice finds some solace under the mistletoe. Or at the bottom of a large gin and Dubonnet. ■
