Lisa axed to make way for Ant

And she wants you to know she’s NOT happy

‘Ant’s recovery has been everyone’s first priority’

The latest blow in the year from hell for Lisa Armstrong came last week, when it was announced that she’d been axed from her job at Britain’s Got Talent. The hair and make-up artist had worked on the show for years, but with her ex-husband Ant Mcpartlin set to return to filming auditions for the programme in January, Lisa has been shown the door.

Ten months ago, Ant crashed his car while more than twice the drink-drive limit and has been off work since. And while ITV bosses are said to be excited for his reunion with Dec, an insider has said that, “Ant’s recovery has been everyone’s first priority”.

Although Ant and Lisa split in January, when the last series of BGT was still filming, the pair were able to continue working together, while being kept separate at all times. But with their relationship hugely deteriorating over the last year, it seems her time on the show was up.

Lisa – who’s just finished working on Strictly Come Dancing – went on Twitter in her usual fashion to vent her frustration at losing her job. The 42 year old “liked” and retweeted a number of supportive tweets that criticised her ex-husband. One said, “[Lisa] doesn’t deserve to be dumped from BGT. That prized muppet drinks and drives, then has the pity party and a little extended rest, and still it’s Lisa that gets the raw deal. Sometimes being a strong woman isn’t easy, but you’ve earned our respect.”

Another comment that Lisa liked acknowledged that Ant’s relationship with new girlfriend Anne-marie Corbett must be devastating. “Can you imagine having to see your ex-husband and his new girlfriend all over the papers? And then she loses her job because of it. How much more is she supposed to take?” they wrote.

Lisa is said to be looking forward to welcoming in a new year, and she’ll be doing so in LA, where she has spent time this year with friend and ex-deuce bandmate Craig Young. And 2019 promises to hold more excitement for her, as she’s landed a new “glam squad job” on a makeover show, fronted by Kate Middleton’s hairdresser Richard Ward. Yep, 2019 is going to be your year, Lisa. ■
