Tom & Suri: REUNITED FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The dad and daughter have reportedly been estranged for years
If you needed a little feel-good Christmas magic in your celebrity stories this week, look no further than the news of this daddy-daughter reunion. Insiders tell heat that Tom Cruise is said to be spending part of the holidays with 12-year-old Suri, after years of apparently not seeing that much of each other.
“Suri has been missing her dad more than ever recently, and it looks like she will get to spend some time with him this Christmas,” says an insider close to Suri’s mum Katie Holmes, who was married to actor and high-profile Scientologist Tom for six years. The couple split in 2012, amid rumours she feared losing Suri to the controversial faith, and there was speculation that Tom hadn’t seen much of Suri since.
The insider adds, “Tom’s always denied being an absent dad, but the fact he’s been seen in public with Suri so rarely has been heartbreaking for those close to her. Sure, there was a huge difference of opinion between Tom and Katie about Scientology, but Suri is still his daughter. A lot of time has passed now, and he realises it’s in everyone’s interests to put Suri first and let bygones be bygones.”
We’re told Katie, 39 – who’s rumoured to be planning her wedding to actor Jamie Foxx – will be present for the reunion. “They’re working out the best venue for them to meet,” says the insider. “Katie will most likely want somewhere semi-public, while Tom would prefer an ultrasecure location far away from prying eyes. At the moment, a secluded country estate is the most probable solution – somewhere Tom and Suri will have the opportunity to catch up, exchange presents and enjoy some much-needed time together.” ■
