Let’s all enjoy their annual Barbados trip
We all love a Christmas tradition – from your mum burning the turkey, to your nan drinking too much sherry and knocking over the tree. And the holidays wouldn’t be complete without Simon Cowell’s annual trip to Barbados to practise his water-sports skills.
The X Factor judge owns a lavish home on the island and always visits every Christmas and New Year. He was joined by 41-year-old girlfriend Lauren Silverman, and their four-year-old son Eric on the idyllic beach, as they took to the water to enjoy one of the classic rich-person activities: jet skiing.
Doting dad that he is, Si took Eric out on his jet ski to show him how to kick back and relax as a multi-millionaire businessman. Simon, 58, already has his mini-me all set to take over his music empire after recently setting up a new branch of his record label Syco – named Sykids – in honour of his son.
The mega-famous family were happy to stroll along the public beach, mingling with the normals – and when we say mingling, we mean rushing through them towards the jet skis. Lauren showed off her always fabulous figure, while Simon just showed off his rather intense-looking sunburn.
Earlier in the week, Lauren – who has been with Simon since 2013 – was spotted kayaking with Eric. Decked out in cool kid sunglasses, Eric sat up front and did absolutely none of the hard work while his mum brought the paddlepower in the back.
Lauren and Simon originally met in 2006 when Lauren’s then-husband Andrew Silverman introduced them to each other in… Barbados. The married couple often holidayed with Simon, and Andrew eventually filed for divorce when it was revealed Lauren was pregnant with Simon’s child.
The music mogul, who has said he was worried he had left it too late to be a father, is now every inch the besotted parent. Although, as he revealed in an interview, he only likes to do “fun things” with his mini-me.
Jet skiing in Barbados clearly fell into that category. ■
