Olivia: ‘I’ve Christmas-ed us to death’

Mrs Bowen tells us how she can’t wait to be Mrs Claus on 25 December…

Olivia Bowen (née Buckland – we just can’t get used to anything else) is more than looking forward to her first Christmas as a Mrs. After her epic wedding to fellow Love Islander Alex Bowen this September, there isn’t much budget left for shopping, but that isn’t stopping her from going all out. The 25 year old tells us she hates surprises herself, but is excited to shower Alex with gifts, calling herself “Mrs Santa”. It seems wedded bliss is keeping Olivia cosy this winter…

Are you a fan of Christmas? I never used to be, I was always a Scrooge. But since we got our own flat, I’ve really got into it. We’ve had our Christmas tree up since the start of November, so you could say I’ve really Christmas-ed us to death! It’s your first one as a Mrs – does that make it feel different? It actually does. This year, we’ve got Alex’s parents over, plus my parents and grandparents. It’s the first Christmas in our house as a married couple – it’s very cute. I feel really old. Who will be doing the cooking on the day? I will help a bit, but I have to get quite merry on Christmas Day and I do love to dress up. So, Mum will have to do most of the cooking, I’m afraid. She is really good at it. I’ll top up the drinks!

You love to dress up? I love that, at Christmas, you can wear as much glitter and sequins as you like – you can basically dress up as a Christmas tree. I work with W7 Cosmetics and they have cool gift sets with glitter and highlights, so I like to go for shimmer around the eye area and a red lip. I’m in PJS until midday, then I do my make-up, get dressed, eat dinner… and get back in my PJS.

After your big wedding, do you have any budget left for Christmas? No! We’re trying to be a bit more controlled and not give

extravagant presents. We’ll just get each other little silly gifts. I might have a cheeky little shop, though, without Alex knowing. Do your two dogs get gifts? Totally! I’ve said the dogs are our children and that’s why I’m not bothered about kids. My nan and brother always buy for the dogs. They used to buy my cat gifts, too. ■
