There’s nothing like a bit of winter sun for a make-or-break vacay, right Coleen and Wayne?
They’ve been cuddling up in Dubai, but Coleen still hasn’t forgiven Wayne…
After an eventful few months, which has included a highly publicised WAG bust-up and rumours that they’re heading for divorce, Coleen and Wayne Rooney jetted out to Dubai to spend some much-needed time together in the sunshine.
Leaving their four children – Kai, ten, Klay, six, Kit, three, and 21-month-old Cass – in the capable hands of their grandparents, the couple were quick to show off pictures of them having a “gorgeous” time, but heat has been told it was more of a make-or-break holiday.
“Wayne and Coleen have hardly spent any time together recently, due to him finishing off the football season in America and her being in the UK with the boys,” our insider says. “But he’s back now and he wanted to pull out the big guns, as things have been pretty bad between them. He knows how much Coleen loves the sun, so he organised a trip to Dubai, so they could have some alone time – which they never get – before he starts at new team Derby County in January. Wayne organised it all and, despite how things have been between them, Coleen’s never going to turn down an opportunity to be spoiled.”
However, the source adds, “It wasn’t all fun and romance – they used the time to talk about the future and their marriage. Without the distraction of the boys and other family members, they could finally have some difficult conversations. Coleen still hasn’t fully forgiven Wayne for what he’s put her through.”
There’s no denying things between Wayne, 34, and Coleen, 33, haven’t been great since the former England captain was arrested for being drunk while driving home party girl Laura Simpson after a night out in 2017. A pregnant Coleen, who was on holiday with the children at the time, criticised his behaviour in a Facebook post, but still stood by him. Then, after relocating to America at the end of 2017 for an apparent fresh start, Wayne was arrested for being drunk and disorderly at an airport, and was seen getting into the car of a barmaid following another drinking session. Most recently, he enjoyed a boozy night out with his teammates and several women that ended with a hot tub party where he reportedly stripped down to his boxers. He was then pictured getting into a lift with one of the women back at his hotel
– although he said nothing happened between them.
Coleen has created some drama of her own, saying stories about her and Wayne had been leaked by fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy, which a pregnant Becky continues to deny. Unlike Rebekah’s husband Jamie, Wayne didn’t publicly support Coleen, and we’re told she wanted to use this holiday to show that their marriage is as strong as the Vardys’. “There’s definitely an element of Coleen trying her hardest to put on a show for Instagram,” we’re told. “She’s feels she came out worse in the showdown with Becky, and has seen all the comments saying she must be jealous because of her troubled marriage and how great the Vardys are together. It hurts on a personal level, and is the main reason why she’s putting on such a show with Wayne – she hates anyone having one up on her. Wayne is a little surprised that he’s not in the doghouse any more, and that she was willing to go on the trip with him. They never normally post this many pictures of themselves on a trip together.
He’s probably sussed out why, but he’s being given an easy ride, so he’s happy to go along with it.”
The insider continues, “Coleen’s friends have said she is desperate to prove that she and Wayne are great. It’s really gotten to her that Becky is seen to be ‘winning’ because she’s the ‘happy’ one with a husband who adores her.
Coleen is determined to show that Wayne loves her too, and that they are living their best lives.”
But it seems the trip may have only papered over a few cracks. The insider says Coleen is still mad at Wayne – although she’s trying her best to put everything behind her for the sake of the children – and she wants to save her marriage. “It’s a very strange dynamic between them. At home, they’re mostly not talking and there are lots of rows, but then they go out in public and act all loved-up,” we’re told. “She knows that a lot of people still think she’s a doormat and lets Wayne get away with too much, but that’s not the case. She’s doing what she thinks is best for her and the boys and that is staying with Wayne, even if she has thought about leaving him.”
The insider continues, “Wayne is just happy they are back doing fun things and hopes it lasts a few more weeks. But, after everything he’s put her through, it’ll take a long time for things to get back to how they were. Both of them really needed this holiday. Yes, there were some arguments, but it showed Coleen they both want to fight for their marriage. She’s feeling a lot more settled and looking forward to Christmas as a family.” n
‘It’s really gotten to her that Becky is seen as winning’
Thanks to Coleen’s allegations in October, we’re told Becky has been finding life in the UK tough. Although she has the full support of husband Jamie, the fallout has got the 37-year-old star thinking about her family’s future – and it could involve a move to the US.
Becky has made no secret of her desire to live in LA, but now a source tells us she could find herself in Miami, as there are rumours David Beckham is interested in signing Jamie for his new football team. And the thought of getting close to the Beckhams is a big pull for the soon-to-be mum of five.
“Becky knows Jamie can’t stay at Leicester forever, even though they both love the club,” our insider says. “They have been discussing their future and are tempted by a move to play in the States for a couple of years. LA is their favourite destination, but with David launching his new team in Miami, the city has a huge appeal for both of them. Jamie would love to work with David and Becky would love to befriend Victoria. She’s always been a huge fan and sees her and Jamie as the next Posh and Becks, so she would be keen to become part of Vic’s inner circle.”
It would also be another dig at Coleen, who knows Posh from when their husbands played for England together. “Becky knows that if she was to hang out with the Beckhams, it would confirm her status as Queen of the Wags. Uprooting all their family would be hard, but she’s excited at the prospect.” n
