Cheryl wants more babies – and if she can’t land the right man, she’ll find herself a sperm donor and a surrogate instead

Cheryl is ready to be a mum again

Becoming a mum to her two-year-old son Bear is without a doubt Cheryl’s proudest achievement. And now heat has been told the 36-year-old singer is going all out with her plans for another baby this year, despite the fact she’s currently single.

Last week, she candidly revealed that she is determined to have two more children using a sperm donor – and a source tells us she’s also been looking into the option of using a surrogate. “Cheryl’s already committed – there will be a baby or babies in 2020, and friends say there is a chance it could happen via surrogate,” our insider says. “She’s been weighing it up for a while, trying to decide on the best way to proceed. Her pregnancy with Bear was difficult – she had a few medical issues that made it really tough, and that has been a big consideration for her. But she’s also worried about bonding with the baby if she doesn’t carry it – with her already using a sperm donor, doing it via surrogate risks her being another level removed. It’s a real dilemma for her, and she is weighing up all options. Although the pregnancy with Bear was hard, it was worth it. Her friends were shocked by the surrogacy idea at first, but they can see it makes sense. Cheryl is just desperate for another child, and so she wants it to happen any way possible, and she doesn’t feel she can wait until she finds Mr Right.”

Speaking last week of her plans to use a sperm donor, Cheryl revealed, “It makes me very happy. If time was on my side and I was in my twenties, yeah, I would wait and consider more options, or wait for somebody I felt was right, but… You could meet somebody and for that year it feels incredible, but there is never a guarantee, because there are so many variables that can happen. Life is a funny old game.” She also said she would be getting her sperm from “abroad”, adding, “There’s a lot to choose from and a lot to think about.”

Cheryl first hinted at her plans in an interview last April, when she said, “You don’t necessarily need to be in a relationship. I’ve got a friend who has had two children using donors. Not everything has to be conventional.” And whatever route she does choose, we’re told she wants at least two more children – with twins a possibility. She wants the babies close in age, and to have had all of her kids by the time she’s 40. And, because she’ll be getting

medical help, there could be the option to have more than one egg implanted via IVF.

“Her dream would be twins, to get it all out of the way in one go,” we’re told. “She knows that by doing it this way, there is a higher chance of twins, and that excites her a lot. But, if not, she would love a girl, and then another little boy – she really wants to make sure that Bear has siblings. She says that will be all she needs in life – her kids, and her own mum and family, and her inner circle of close friends. If a man comes along later, then that’s a bonus, but this will be her family. Being a mum has given Cheryl contentment and a reason for living that she never had before.”

Cheryl’s only work commitment this year, so far, is her role as a dance captain on The Greatest

Dancer, which finishes in February. Our source says she has decided to speak about becoming a mum again now, so she can avoid speculation about who the father is and their relationship status when the baby arrives.

Cheryl – who has been single since splitting from Bear’s dad, Liam Payne, in 2018 – has spoken out about her “tough” pregnancy before, saying how much she “hated it”. She suffered gestational diabetes and ended up having a C-section, revealing, “A lot of stuff went on and I just didn’t enjoy it.”

And while the arrival of Bear was “amazing”, she thinks that if she’s going to get pregnant in an unconventional way, the option of using a surrogate is there, and it’s just one of the many things she is considering to make her baby dream come true.

“Cheryl feels that, as a single mum, she could struggle being pregnant again, and she would be constantly worried about not having anyone there on the journey with her to hold her hand,” our source adds. “Her mum and brother Garry live at her place almost full-time, and she has a good support network, but it’s not the same. She’s spent a lot of time thinking about it, and while she’s enthusiastic about expanding her family, and doing it solo does not daunt her in the slightest, being alone during pregnancy does. Last time was a killer for her. She just worries about what effect it would have on Bear, and wouldn’t want him to suffer because of it, or to be too tired to make the most of their time together.”

The source continues, “She never imagined she would be in this position, and thought she and Liam would’ve had another baby together. But she’s determined to embrace it, and doesn’t care what people think. She loves being a mum, and can’t wait to do it all over again.” n
