Amy: ‘I cried on my first morning in the villa’

How did you feel on day one of the experience? The night before, I was lying in bed and I suddenly thought, “What if I don’t get picked?” I started having an anxiety attack, and I had to sit on the bathroom floor to calm down. The next day, we kept saying it was like my wedding, because you go to a hotel to get ready. My legs were all shaky when I had to walk down to the cars. Then, when you get in, you’re like, “Wow, I’m actually here!” And how was it in the villa? For me, day one is all format points – you have your walk in, the pick, the party in the evening, then the bombshell. It’s all a bit of a dream world. I woke up the next day and thought, “I might have to be here for another 58 days,” and I went to the beach hut and just cried! What advice would you give to the newbies? Just try to remember everything in those first two weeks, because you’ll never have a crazier fortnight. I don’t remember mine, because it was so crazy. Any villa “hacks”? What’s the best way to shotgun the shower? When they’d tell us to get ready, we’d all say, “first”, “second”, “third”, etc… Also, my chaperone was a runner the year before, and she said, “make sure you put your mic at the end of your bed”, because they come in to change the batteries at night. And if your mic is still on you, they have to wake you up. n
