After their sensational SAG PDA, things are hotting up for Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. Praise be!
It’s the reunion we all wanted – and now it’s actually happening
We’re only a few weeks into 2020, but it may have already peaked after seeing Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston’s flirty encounter at the SAG Awards last week. Yes, that’s right, Brad and Jen put on a very public display of affection at the Hollywood ceremony and it was almost as if the past 15 years hadn’t happened. Now we’re told this is just the start of them going public with their reunion, having tried to keep it secret for the past year.
“Them being so affectionate in front of the cameras at the SAGS sent a clear message to those who know them well – things between them are well and truly back on,” an insider tells heat. “While they don’t want to label what’s going on between them, it’s been getting increasingly hard to hide it.”
The insider continues. “It all started when Brad showed up at Jen’s 50th last year, and their emotions have been snowballing hard ever since. Over the past few months, they’ve been meeting up almost every week, constantly chatting on the phone, and reminiscing about their early years together. They always
knew they still had love for one another, but in the last few weeks, those feelings have grown more intense. Jen’s been gushing to everyone how happy she is seeing Brad get the recognition he deserves in Hollywood. Meanwhile, Brad has been saying how proud he is of Jen with her role on The Morning Show and doing some of her best work yet.”
Brad and Jen split in 2005 after five years of marriage, after he grew close to his Mr & Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie. While they denied anything had happened, Brad soon got together with Ange and they were playing happy families with her adopted son Maddox. They went on to have three children of their own, as well as adopting two more, and got married in 2014. But they split two years later, with the divorce – which is still not yet finalised – turning increasingly toxic, as they fought for custody of the children and their multi-million dollar fortune. Jen – who described
Brad as having a “sensitivity chip” missing by the way he had publicly flaunted his relationship with Ange – also found love, marrying Justin Theroux in 2015, but they split two years later. Ever since then, rumours have been rife that Brad and Jen were going to get back together, as they worked on their friendship.
While accepting his award for best supporting actor for the role of Cliff in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Brad – who’s been open about his drink and drug issues during his time with Angelina, and is now sober – jokingly referred to his marriage, while Jen looked on and smiled. He said, “Let’s be honest – it was a difficult part: a guy who gets high, takes his shirt off and doesn’t get on with his wife. It was a big stretch.” He was backstage when
Jen won her best Actress award for The Morning Show – which she also co-produced – and was filmed standing in front of the TV screen, lovingly watching her speech and saying, “Wow.” The pair then attended the same Netflix after-party together.
‘They both have zero regrets about how this all went down’
And according to our insider, they’re both thrilled about the reaction their reunion has caused. “They’re both totally buzzing and have zero regrets about the way this all went down,” heat’s source says. “They wanted to send a clear message: they love each other very deeply, and this new connection they share is growing stronger all the time. It’s taken them both a long time to pluck up the courage to be pictured together like this, but now it’s finally happened, and they can take things to the next level. That means hanging out more in public, going to dinner together, and meeting up with mutual friends without having to swear them to secrecy.”
However, it hasn’t been easy for Jen, 50, to let Brad, 56, back into her life. We’re told she’s been having therapy, so she can shake off any worries about him hurting
her again, like he did when he went off with Angelina.
“Jen has credited her therapy with learning to trust Brad again, and they’ve been having sessions together to iron out exactly what went wrong last time and list the reasons why it’s worth salvaging their romance,” we’re told. “Jen has been very hesitant about any PDAS with him, but lately things between them have got so intense, she’s thrown caution to the wind and doesn’t care who sees how much she still clearly loves him.”
The insider adds, “They both feel as though they are at the top of their game, and the fact they have been able to share that and celebrate together is the icing on the cake. It’s like no time has passed and they’re back to being as in love as they were when they first met. Jen is trying to downplay talk of them getting married again and all of that – she just wants to focus on the present moment and how good it feels, for both her and Brad, to be back in each other’s lives.”
And first up for the lovebirds? A much-needed break. “Once awards season is over, they are planning a holiday to work out exactly what’s going on between them and spend some time together away from any prying eyes,” says the source. “They’re both dying to get away together, to Mexico or some other hot place to wind down.”
The insider continues, “They’re both treading carefully, but looking ahead, Jen is hoping that she and Brad will be able to have a couple more holidays together, as well as some alone time at their homes. They need to figure out what it is they have together and how to take things forward. This is the happiest Jen’s been in years – both personally and professionally, and she doesn’t care who knows it.” ■
