THE FAIERS GET ROWDY IN NYC
It wouldn’t be a Faiers vacay without a complaint or two
Start spreading the news… as Sam and Billie Faiers were most certainly a part of it in New York, New York. The reality TV sisters, along with mum Sue Wells, descended upon the Big Apple last week for Billie’s 30th birthday celebrations, ticking off every prerequisite of a girly city break in record time. Seriously, guys, they did it all: boozy brunching, spa relaxing, luxury shopping and, true to form, pissing off other holidaymakers before they’d even landed. Yes, in case you didn’t know it already, these ladies know how to holiday.
The hijinks started early, when they tucked into the bucks fizz in the first-class lounge before their morning flight – wearing matching New York jumpers, of course. Soon enough, they were up in the air, and sharing every minute with their followers (thanks, inflight wifi), including the moment they were told to shut up, because their fellow first-class passengers had complained about the noise. Posting on Instagram, Billie raged, “Since being on the plane, someone has complained because me, my mum and sister have been laughing… Yes, laughing, how dare we… Please, honey, are we not even allowed to laugh these days?” The trio may have been miffed at BA staff for overreacting and asking them to be quiet, but the whole incident felt a tad familiar, coming just ten months after Billie and husband Greg Shepherd’s Maldives wedding, when holidaymakers complained that their luxury vacation had been ruined by the family’s 100-strong entourage of “drunken yobbo” guests. This was in addition to an incident that happened before the wedding celebrations even kicked off, when Sam and Billie’s stepdad Dave Chatwood was stopped from boarding his flight after reportedly having too much to drink. Awkward.
Thankfully, Billie, Sam and Sue weren’t about to let some disgruntled flyers get them down (again). Instead, they hit the sidewalk running, taking in everything that New York has to offer. First up was a touristy horse and carriage ride around Central Park. They then hit swanky Italian eatery Lavo for a boozy brunch, guzzled cocktails at Baccarat Hotel’s bar, and decompressed after a busy day of drinking with a luxury hotel spa session. Still, much to their kids’ relief at home, the ladies managed to find some time in their packed schedule to stop off at New York’s famous toy store FAO Schwartz, where they picked up goodies for Nellie, five, and two-yearold Arthur (Billie and Greg’s children) and Paul, four, and two-year-old Rosie (Sam’s kids with partner Paul Knightley). Soon enough, they were back in the air again, leaving Manhattan trembling in their wake – and probably humming, “Start spreadin’ the news, they’re leaving today…”
