Forget Brad Pitt, Jen and Ange’s biggest battle is the fight to become Meghan’s BFF
You know what it’s like at school when the new kid joins and everyone wants to be their BFF? Well, imagine that, but instead of school, it’s Los Angeles, and instead of snotty schoolchildren, it’s Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie fighting over Meghan Markle. An insider tells us, “Both Jen and Ange want to spend time with Meghan and Harry once they are in LA. They’re essentially arch rivals again – and they’re both willing to fight for it.”
While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently holed up in Vancouver Island after stepping back from their royal duties, they’re planning on spending more time in Meghan’s hometown of LA, and it seems Hollywood is queueing up to meet them . “Pretty much the whole town wants to befriend them, so it’s not surprising Jen and Ange are planning to make a beeline for them,” we’re told. But Harry and Meghan will have to pick a side, as Jen and Ange definitely don’t do mutual BFFS. And it turns out they both have a lot to offer.
“Jennifer figures she’s got way more pulling power since she can open doors for Meghan with TV and movie roles. She’s also hoping they’ll be wooed by the thought of hanging out with her roster of A-list friends – including Brad Pitt,” our source explains. “However, Angelina is banking on Meghan being more interested in charity work, and that’s where she can help more than anyone else in Hollywood. Not only has she got a lot of influence at the UN, but she can also help make introductions to a ton of non-profit groups that she’s confident will appeal to Meghan and Harry.” So, with the pair both preparing to
battle for Meghan’s attention, Jen and Ange’s already sour relationship isn’t going to improve any time soon. “Angelina may be a household name, but the way Jen sees it, she’s poison on a social level – everyone avoids her like the plague,” says the source. “Ange thinks Jen’s been talking about her to her industry friends, but she’s trying not to react.”
The insider adds, “Of course, it infuriates her that she’s going to have to compete with the person she’s been pitted against for the past 15 years. But she also knows that taking the bait and hitting back will only play into Jen’s hands.”
