Strictly might be over, but the curse rumours are not – especially since Kelvin and Oti have been meeting up for late-night drinks

Most of us were pretty shocked when Phillip Schofield came out as gay in an emotional message on Instagram. However, not everyone was as stunned by the revelation, as just days later, actress Joan Collins said on Good Morning Britain, “Why does he have to [announce it publicly]? It seemed like he was living a fine life. Everybody who knew him knew that he is gay.” She went on to reiterate, saying, “A lot of people already knew. I mean, we all knew.”

Many viewers were both bemused and horrified by her comments, but some praised her, including one fan who wrote, “Investigative journalist Joan Collins asking the real questions on GMB”. Others, though, felt that she had crossed a line. “Gentle reminder to Joan Collins and the rest of the population: someone’s sexuality is nobody’s business, nor is the reason why they choose it to become public,” said one commenter.

Gossip was rife after the announcement from the 57 year old, aided by a cryptic post from Phil’s famous nemesis, Amanda Holden. She uploaded a video of herself at a photo shoot, but captioned the Instagram post, “Always more interesting what goes on behind the scenes.”

Fans believed Amanda was referring to Phil, who she has clashed with in the past. After recent reports of his diva-like behaviour backstage emerged, Amanda remarked, “There is a tin opener and there’s a can somewhere, and other people have found the tin opener. That’s all I’m saying.” ■
