Embarrassing mum alert: Katie Price wants to return to Playboy, but her kids aren’t impressed
One might be called Bunny, but they don’t want Mum dressing like one
Mums can be so embarrassing, right? When they’re not calling to check up on us, they’re nagging us in public. Or, in Katie Price’s case, getting their kit off for a men’s mag. Last week, Katie posted a throwback snap of her Playboy cover from 2002, proudly telling fans she had “toured around America promoting it with Hugh Hefner”. And while she hung up her bunny ears long ago, Katie added that she’d love to do it all over again – much to the horror of her eldest kids Junior, 14, and Princess, 12. “Both of them are old enough to know what Playboy is, and they don’t want their mum to do it,” says an insider close to the former glamour model, who first found fame with her Page 3 alter ego Jordan. “It’s got Peter [Andre, Katie’s ex, and Junior and Princess’ dad] worried about what she might be planning next with her career. But Katie maintains that she’s just doing the best she can to get herself back on her feet financially, and once she’s done that, Junior and Princess will be less bothered – especially if their mum is showering them with expensive gifts.”
Katie’s Playboy aspirations come hot on the heels of her recent Make-up Masterclass tour, part of her renewed attempts to get her career back on track – including her, ahem, singing career – in the wake of her bankruptcy declaration in December. But her efforts were temporarily cut short last week after her pet dog Sparkle died, having escaped from her home and been hit by a car. At the time, the star told followers she was
“pissed off” about the accident, but a boozy night out at celeb haunt Sheesh gave her the pick-me-up she needed. She was soon back in the studio and “working with DJ Rick Live” on her album. Still, sadly for Katie, her kids are reportedly equally unimpressed by her singing aspirations. “Princess already cringes at some of the outfits that Katie has worn in the past, but there’s even more worry over what she’ll wear while performing,” says our source.
Last year, Katie – who’s also mum to Harvey, 17, Jett, six, and Bunny, five – said that her eldest daughter had told her off for “dressing like a teenager”, adding that her kids, “Don’t even like me getting out of the car when I pick them up from school.” But despite their reservations, we’re told that the Pricey’s pushing on with her plans regardless. Mums, eh? They never listen… ■
