Liam steps up for Cheryl’s new baby
He’s willing to play ‘dad’ for Bear’s sake

In Cheryl’s dream world, at some point this year, she will be celebrating the arrival of her second child. The single singer has spoken openly about her desire to have another baby using a sperm donor, and is reportedly already quite far along in her journey. But, as a devoted mum to two-year Bear – her son with ex-boyfriend Liam Payne – she is obviously very wary about the impact this will have on him and the dynamics in their family. Now, an insider tells us that Cheryl is thrilled as Liam has assured her he will always be there for her, Bear and any other children she has.
“Liam and Cheryl are in a great place right now, and naturally they’ve discussed Cheryl’s plans to expand the family and how much she wants to give Bear siblings,” says our source. “Liam is 100 per cent with her and supporting her through it. He’s told her that he’s happy to be there for all her children in the future – he’s basically said, ‘We will still be a little family. This is a permanent set-up.’ He’s not got the best way with words sometimes, but he’s told Cheryl that he will be there throughout the process and wants to help her in whatever way he can. Neither of them know how it’ll work until it all happens, but as long as there’s no other guy on the scene, then Liam will still be the ‘dad’ figure in the house.”
However, as heat told you last week, the growing closeness between Cheryl, 36, and Liam, 26, is putting a strain on his relationship with girlfriend Maya Henry. The 19-year-old model is said to be concerned about how much time they spend together as they co-parent Bear, and she’s worried what this could mean for her and Liam if he steps up as “dad” for Cheryl’s new baby.
“Maya is finding it hard to deal with the fact that Liam is getting more involved with the mother of his child. She doesn’t understand why there’s this constant communication between them,” we’re told. “She understands him wanting to be there for Bear as much as he can, but she would naturally find it difficult if he got involved with the new baby. It’s always been a tricky situation and it may get even more complicated. But Liam just wants to do right by Cheryl and Bear.” ■
