The GC fears Arg will be a runaway groom
It’s all planned, but he hasn’t RSVP’D
Let’s be honest, Gemma Collins is a woman who gets what she wants – and right now, that’s a big, white wedding. We’re told she’s gone full-on Bridezilla, checking out lavish venues and drawing up guest lists. There’s just one problem: Gemma and on/off boyfriend James “Arg” Argent aren’t engaged. Plus, Arg is a little preoccupied, as he is currently in a rehab facility in Thailand being treated for ongoing addiction issues.
Now, an insider says Gem’s friends are worried that she’ll press ahead with their wedding plans regardless – and wind up with a runaway groom on the big day. “Arg hasn’t even proposed, and he feels that all of Gem’s planning has gotten way out of hand,” says an insider close to The GC. “He wants to be in a good space before he can even talk about marriage, but Gem feels as though time is against them and they need to hurry up. Arg tends to run away from life in times of panic – whenever he and Gem are in a bad place, he goes AWOL. At this point, his friends are worried that he’ll bolt.”
Gemma and Arg’s famously volatile relationship was seriously tested late last year, when Gem, 39, was forced to call emergency services amid fears that Arg, 32, had overdosed. While Gem’s now reportedly supporting her beau during his rehab stay, they’re not exactly on stable ground and, despite Gemma’s best intentions, we’re told her gung-ho approach to wedding planning could be the thing to end their romance for good.
As heat reported last month, Gemma has even been thinking about booking the ceremony where Arg is staying in Thailand. “She’s like a woman possessed,” says our source. “She’s asked her dad to set aside a budget for the big day, and isn’t expecting Arg to chip in as much as she is. It’s tradition for the father of the bride to foot most of the bill, so Arg has nothing to worry about. She’s said that all he needs to do is turn up and she’ll sort the rest. But that’s exactly the problem – Arg can’t guarantee that.” Better warn the caterers, Gem. ■
