Bridget Jones, who? Lisa Armstrong’s divorce diary could be the next big thing
She wants to empower other women
‘Ant needn’t sweat – Lisa wants to avoid any bitterness’
It’s exactly what an ex-husband dreads – a tell-all book detailing all their worst habits and all their secrets. Luckily, that’s exactly not what Lisa Armstrong, 43, is planning with her new book deal, according to an insider.
“Lisa wants to inspire women who’ve had experiences like hers to move forwards not backwards. She doesn’t want to fight with Ant any more, she wants to make a fresh start in a positive fashion by writing a self-help book for women that will give advice and tips about self-confidence and getting over hardships.”
Following their split at the beginning of 2018, Lisa and Ant Mcpartlin have spent the last couple of years battling over their divorce settlement, with Lisa often expressing her heartbreak and frustration on Twitter via her own tweets and by liking others’. But now, with the divorce over, we’re told that she’s ready to share her experiences.
“Since the split, Lisa has been inundated with offers to tell her side of the story. When things got really tough with all the mudslinging going on, especially from Ant and [his girlfriend] Anne-marie, Lisa was obviously tempted to really go for it and say what she really thought about it. But recently she’s come to her senses and realised that it’s not worth causing herself any more pain and heartbreak, and the best thing she can do is learn a lesson from it all and share that knowledge.”
The make-up artist has been praised for her strong and positive attitude throughout, which we’re told is down to “a lot of soulsearching, meditation, yoga and having fun with her girlfriends”. Now, our source says she wants to share tips with women who have been in similar situations.
“Lisa has decided the best thing she can do is lead by her own example and inspire other women by putting something out there that deals with self-confidence, how to have a positive outlook, staying away from negativity, and surrounding yourself with good friends,” our source says. “It’s going to be part self-help book, part memoir of all her best celeb anecdotes and the life lessons she has learned along the way.
“Ant needn’t sweat about it, because Lisa wants to avoid any bitterness. Even though some of her friends have said she should ‘let him have it’, she has said that she doesn’t want that kind of bad karma following her around any more. She’s in a better headspace and just wants to take her mind off all the negativity.” ■
