‘I ate a scorpion – it tasted like filth’

-

Which trip changed your life?

I recently went on a skiing trip in Val d’isère with Crystal Ski Holidays. We went ice diving, enjoyed plenty of après-ski, and ate the most amazing bread every day. I went paragliding off the mountains, too, which was unbelievable. I even steered the parachute.

Where’s the coolest place you’ve stayed?

There was an amazing hotel called Ammatara Pura in Thailand, which was really old-school and definitely haunted. But every room was a separate villa, so I could sunbathe with my top off.

What’s the best bar you have ever been to?

I went to this bar called Potato Head in Bali for New Year’s Eve, which was so good. Being around amazing people and drinking is great, but the location of the bar was perfect – the sunset views were unreal.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve put in your mouth?

I’ve eaten a scorpion in Bangkok. People say that they taste like chicken, but they actually taste like filth. I had it for the experience more than anything else.

Who’s your ideal holiday companion?

My brother Ethan, because we’re very similar. We’ll go out and have a party, but we also like nice food and chilling out. I can easily tell him if I don’t want to go out and drink, whereas I feel peer pressure from my friends, and then three days later, you’re still drinking.

Give us a travel tip from your home town...

Everyone needs to go to Dash restaurant in Liverpool and order the scallops as a starter – they are delicious. They have two sides of the menu, so you can have the Italian options or Asian-based dishes. It’s my go-to place when I visit home. ■
