Pete’s tribute to Emily

As she heads to work in local hospital

-

Peter Andre paid tribute to his wife Emily last week in a touching Instagram post. The 47 year old shared a picture of the 30-year-old GP alongside other NHS workers battling the coronavirus pandemic in their local hospital. In the picture, Emily and her colleagues held up signs with the now-familiar slogan, “We stay here for you, please stay home for us!”

Pete shared a “Thanks health heroes” sticker alongside the image. Soon after Pete’s post, his 14-year-old son Junior revealed he was suffering from coronavirus symptoms, but hadn’t been diagnosed, so it was unclear if Emily is still going to work. But she has previously shared her thoughts on working as a doctor in the crisis, saying, “At the time of writing this, myself, Pete and the kids are all fine. As a doctor, I am obviously continuing to work as normal unless any of us get any symptoms. The chances are some of us are probably going to get it, but we just have to be sensible and listen to the government’s advice.”

Emily was a medical student when she and Pete met in 2010, after he was treated by her father (also a doctor). The pair started dating in 2012, and a year later, announced they were expecting a child together. They married in 2015, and now have two children – Amelia, six, and Theo, three – while Emily is also stepmum to Princess and Junior, Pete’s kids with Katie Price.

Pete recently admitted how “alarmed” he has been by the crisis, and that he is worried for his wife’s safety while she carries out her duties. “Obviously, Emily being a doctor brings it close to home for me and, of course, I’m worried about her,” he said. “But I’m also proud of her doing her job… I know the NHS and Public Health England are doing all they can.” ■
