KIMYE’S KIDS CAUSE CHAOS!

Can’t they furlough their children until this is over?

- CHARLOTTE OLIVER

We have endless respect for all the parents juggling jobs with home schooling your mini-mes: it’s a full-on gig. And nobody knows that more right now than Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. After all, having outsourced the brunt of their childcare over the past six years, they’re suddenly getting a crash course in full-time parenting – and, as it turns out, it’s pretty hard work. Who’d have thought it?

“Kim and Kanye wanted to be hands-on during this time and minimise their use of hired help,” says an insider close to the power couple, who live in LA with their four children – North, six, Saint, four, Chicago, two, and 11-monthold Psalm. “That’s all well and good, but they’re both overwhelmed with work, and are struggling to give the kids enough exercise or attention. Normally, the family has round-the-clock help, so it’s rarely a problem if the kids start acting up. The nannies will separate the older two or take them to the park to burn off some energy, but now that’s simply not possible. Instead of full-time help, Kim and Kanye have to supervise the kids themselves, while balancing their own hectic schedules.”

It’s certainly a bold move from the pair, who aren’t exactly known for their pared-back entourages. But while, we’re told, they’re doing their best to rise to the challenge, it’s inevitably causing some tension behind the scenes – not least because of their different approaches to parenting.

“Kanye’s been escaping to his office a lot, so that’s left Kim in the difficult position of working while the two younger ones are in the room with her making huge amounts of noise, and the others are charging around the house screaming and playing,” says our source. “Kim’s not afraid to get tough when she needs to, if the kids aren’t listening or are making a mess. But Kanye’s more of a ‘Disneyland dad’ – he gives them candy and lets them get away with things more easily. It’s caused problems between him and Kim, because she doesn’t want to send them mixed messages.”

Last week, the cooped-up family managed to get some light relief, after taking part in Kourtney Kardashian’s surprise birthday parade. Joining the rest of the Kardashians in convoy, Kim and her brood drove up to Kourtney’s house, where they all blasted music, cheered and released balloons to celebrate her 41st birthday.

And judging by all the noise and excitement in the videos posted online, they all clearly had a lot of pent-up energy to release. But soon enough, Kimye were back at home, doing full-time parenting nanny-less.

Seriously, guys, inspiring work. Such troupers. ■
