Broody star is dealing with a double heartbreak
Ferne Mccann revealed she had split with boyfriend Albie Gibbs last month on the final episode of her reality show First Time Mum. And, while she admitted she was devastated to break up with him, an insider tells heat that it has hit her particularly hard as she was hoping they could have had a baby together.
“Ferne was convinced Albie was ‘The One’ and was hoping she’d get pregnant within the next year, so she’s taken this break-up hard,” we’re told. “She’s been very open about wanting a brother or sister for [daughter] Sunday and doesn’t want a huge age gap between them.”
After getting together with city trader Albie last year and quickly falling for him, Ferne, 29, admitted she was keen to have a sibling for two-year-old Sunday and that they had discussed having children together. “I’m like, ‘Yeah, we’re going to get married and have children,’ and he doesn’t even bat an eyelid,” she said in a recent interview. “He’s like, ‘Alright, Ferne!’ He’s made me see a hopeful future. I’m happy.” In her TV show, Ferne told viewers that being apart from Albie, 25 – who moved to New York for a year in January – had taken its toll. “How can I see a future with someone when I can’t physically be with them for the foreseeable future? I was naive to think the long-distance thing would be OK. We have broken up and it is proper shit.”
And our source says Ferne is worried about finding love again in the current climate. “She’s worried about how she’s going to meet someone, especially with how things are at the moment. Being a mum is the best thing that’s happened to her, but now she’s convinced she won’t get the chance to do it again.” ■
