The Wagatha Christie case is still well and truly open, so Coleen’s hired a brand-new legal team to help her out

Wagatha Christie’s case isn’t solved just yet

‘Coleen is willing to do whatever it takes’

The WAG war between Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy was the most shocking showbiz story of last year, leading to an explosion of headlines and memes, thanks to Coleen’s Wagatha Christie moment. And the feud – and subsequent legal battle – shows no signs of abating, with Coleen looking like she could now be in line to endure an embarrassing and costly loss.

Last week, it was reported that Coleen had sacked the legal team she had hired to represent her, following her allegations last year that “Rebekah Vardy’s account” had been leaking stories to the press from Coleen’s private Instagram account – allegations Becky strongly denies. It’s claimed that Coleen has not admitted to “a crucial detail of her efforts to catch Becky red-handed”, and that her team told her the case “isn’t very strong”, so she’s now hired a specialist team in London.

The source added, “Coleen thought it was a total certainty she was in the right. But now she’s been told she may have made some mistakes along the way and is keen to shift the blame to anyone else. It’s a total mess. Something has been hidden from everyone else involved and it could end up costing them the whole case.”

Coleen alleged that she had put up fake posts on her Insta stories and allowed only Becky’s account to watch them, to see whether they ended up in the newspapers. Becky – wife of footballer Jamie, and who was pregnant with her fifth child at the time – denied it and said lots of people had access to her account. But Coleen is still determined to get justice and doesn’t care what it costs.

“When Coleen was advised by her legal team that the case was not as

strong as she thought, she was absolutely furious,” our insider explains. “The legal team got fired, and she insisted on hiring a new one to try to continue the case. She is stubbornly refusing to accept the legal advice, and since money is no object, she’s bringing in powerful people to help. She refuses to ‘grovel’ and issue the public apology that Rebekah is demanding, and she’s also convinced that she’s right.”

We’re told Becky has been able to prove that lots of other people had access to her account, and that some of Coleen’s friends may also have seen the posts. But the 34 year old WAG – who last week posted a throwback pic of her wedding reception to celebrate 12 years of marriage – is determined not to back down. As heat recently told you, Coleen is having a tough time at home as she continues to look after her four boys while making plans to relaunch her showbiz career, which is causing arguments with Wayne. She’s also dealing with the stress of delays in the renovation of their new dream home. But despite that – and Wayne advising her to drop the case – Coleen is insisting on going to court.

“Her friends say Coleen seems to have lost all perspective on what it’s going to take to win,” our insider adds. “She’s is willing to do whatever it takes to avoid the public humiliation of an apology and having Rebekah win. Col is going to use every penny she can to keep on fighting this until she wins, no matter how nasty it has to get in order to do so.” ■
