hile a nation of parents scream into their pillows, at least one mum out there hasn’t let lockdown cancel her broodiness. Kim Kardashian’s told friends she’s looking to expand her family again, by adopting baby number five. But with her marriage to Kanye West in serious trouble, it looks like the reality star might be bringing up this fifth child on her own. “Kim’s dead set on adopting,” says an insider close to the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, who is already mum to North, seven, Saint, four, Chicago, two, and Psalm, one. “She’s done some research and wants to make it happen this year or early 2021. There’s no real preference in terms of gender – she’s more interested in giving a home to
Wa child in need. She’s told herself she’ll know what’s right once she starts visiting orphanages.” Kim, 39, used a surrogate for her last two children, following traumatic pregnancies with North and Saint. But she’s also been open about her interest in adoption, previously visiting a Thai orphanage in 2013, where she asked a 13-year-old girl named Pink if she wanted to come back to the US with her. Pink said no, btw. At the time, Kim said, “I think that looking into adoption would be amazing.”
heat’s source continues, “Kim wants to do the whole thing in a low-key manner. She may decide to subtly address it on the TV show, but she’s past the point of wanting to publicise every intimate aspect of her life. Especially with things the way they are in her marriage.”
As heat recently reported, lockdown hasn’t been easy for the couple, who married in 2014, and Kanye, 43, travelled to Wyoming in a bid to give Kim some space. But, whatever happens next between them, friends say the KKW Beauty mogul is determined to go ahead with her baby plan. “Kanye was heavily involved in the adoption discussions before things got tense,” says the insider. “He would love to expand the family and he’s fully aware Kim will go through with it, whether they split up or not. Of course, the official line is that neither of them wants a divorce. They do love each other and would hate to see the kids grow up in a broken home, so they’re still hoping they can get back on track and stay together. But if this marriage doesn’t work, Kim won’t let it break her. She’s more independent than ever these days, and has her mum and sisters around to help with the kids, as well as an army of nannies.”
The source adds, “Ultimately, those kids – and whoever she ends up adopting – are her whole world and will continue to be, with or without Kanye.” n
