HOST A DIY WELLNESS STAYCATION

The wellness break is big business – here’s how to create your own at home

-

Celebs are constantly snapping themselves at fancy health retreats, trying to convince us that they’re feeling rejuvenated after a week-long juice detox, sweating it out in an exotic fitness bootcamp or meditating in some gorgeous Asian temple.

Going anywhere at the moment is difficult, obvs, but you could curate your very own wellness retreat at home with a host of resources available online. You can do it alone or with a virtual support bubble, but it’s a great way to reset after months of festering indoors…

As Troy Bolton said, “Get your head in the game,” and a great way to clear out all the coronavirus clutter in your brain is with meditation and some intention setting. It all sounds very Gwyneth Paltrow, but it’s actually a scientifically proven way to help you become more aware of how the way you think affects your behaviour. You can kick things off with some deep breathing or do a meditation session online – we love the Bhuddify app or Boho Beautiful on Youtube.

Make a list of emotions you want

to experience across your mini retreat or any goals you would like to achieve – both long and short- term. If this is a bit tricky to do on your own, download an app such as Habatica or Intentions.

WORK YOUR BODY

Now you’re set up for success, it’s time to hand your body over to the experts. If you’re after a yoga-focused experience, we’d recommend Soul Adventures (Soul-adventures.co.uk). They offer IRL yoga retreats in Ibiza, but have taken their packages online with five-day virtual experiences available for 220 Euros, with two classes and one workshop per day. If you’re after something more intense, 38 Degrees North are an awardwinning company who host boutique retreats in Ibiza and Mallorca. Their free five-day Prep & Protect package has workouts for every fitness level, as well as nutrition advice, coaching and stress management solutions. To find out more about the app and their retreats, go to Thirtyeightdegreesnorth.com.

TREAT YOUR SOUL

After all that hard work, it’s time to create a bit of a zen den. You can make your DIY recharge as basic as a face mask and a lush candle. But if you really want to get seriously pampering, super-luxe hotel brand Belmond are offering a host of virtual experiences that reflect the five-star offerings they have if you had booked to stay at one of their properties around the world. The Belmond Care Package includes advice on how to create a morning ritual, tips on how to supercharge your sleep, and a recipe for what looks like the world’s most luxurious bath. And the best bit is you don’t need to spend a penny to soak up all the great tips, which are available at Belmond.com/ care-package. n
